In my personal experience, the ball that goes high in the air is the toughest one to catch and hurts the most too. This is because the ball accelerates when falling down to the earth due to gravity, and it is hard to judge where it is gonna exactly land. Everytime I catch those high ones, my hand instantly turns numb for a few seconds and then the intense pain kicks in after my hand turns red like a tomato. 🍅🖐️😭😂 Also sometimes the sunlight or the stadium lights can blind your vision resulting in a dropped catch. The ball that travels parallel to the ground gives us very little reaction time to catch it, which makes it challenging, but at least it's not accelerating. So I find them comparatively easier to deal with. 😎

Ya it hurts little I we cought in a wrong method like crocodile type or getting in the fingers gives more pain but it will be easy in any condition like too sunny or too cloudy because in sunny time the sun light makes tougher to catch high balls and in cloudy time it will be tougher to spot the ball if it went higher in the cloudy time

Both are hard but If I've to choose I rather catch straight bullet shot than wobbling high ball. Best postion to take catch is near chest. So even if you drop it you gonna drop it to front n will have to re-catch it maybe. Fact about drop catch at 4:45 he dropped it and it was world cup semi final I think and the one whose catch was dropped played match wining innings and they go on to win world cup as well. That was one of the costliest drop catch ever. He not only dropped catch but potential world cup as well.

Anxiety also plays its part as the ball goes very high. Just doesn't seem like it's gonna reach you and you flunk, also the longer the ball is in the air the crowd just cheers and pressure mounts on. Personal experience. Been playing from 15 years.

which ball is hardest to catch.... Like everything in cricket its not a binary option. The condition of the ball will vary affecting how hard the ball is and goes off the bat. Also with a skyed ball the colour against the sky, height of the ball and whether you are looking into the sun / colour of the ball all make a difference. I think horizontal or vertical largely comes down to the individual and what they are most comfortable catching. There are 3 main ball types and colours used.
