Alex's speedrun at 1:03:23 - 1:04:14 of a very empathetic, sensitive, yet effective justification and dismantling of why he disagrees is amazingly precise, well put together, and respectful for an under a minute response. @@Ragtagfunrunbecause there wasn’t enough information or time to figure out if she was actually ill, delusional, or anything else. She also claimed many things that could have different answers. So Alex answer was the best for the little time given without making the person uncomfortable and not give his opinion of what happen without enough information. Maybe after a longer conversation we could break down each case. But dismissing everything she said as “ill” or “delusion” would make Alex’s lose this debate. So I love how he handle it here

You’re acting like atheists or non-religious people agree with each other on everything they believe. Ask a group of atheists where people should derive their sense of morality and values and you will find greater diversity of answers than Christians, for example.

Polite, I mean, sure... But I really wished Alex would have let the debators make their full points, too... After almost every sentence he tried to intervene, so that people couldn't articulate their points as well as Alex did again and again and again. He was speaking almost the entire time, leaving no room for others to make more sophisticated arguments, too. Sort of cut off a lot of what could have been interesting

Same could be said about atheism,,, there are multiple different atheist groups within America and the reason why they branch from each other is because they have different moral philosophy, metaphysics politics, and even natural reasoning…. christians have to do the same thing when having conversations with atheist considering there’s multiple different types of atheist some believe morality is objective but many believe it’s subjective some hold, a higher threshold for evidence and some are reasonable and consistent with the evidence Also, to be fair, this is only an issue with Protestant Christianity,, Catholics and orthodox don’t have this issue, considering their one church and all of their beliefs when it comes to faith and morals are aligned

Christianity isn’t one religion, atheists don’t debate a changing opponent they debate a lot of opponents. In videos like these with a lot of different kinds of Christians, unless the video is meant to outline the difference it’s generally best to just have one kind of Christian on and then name the video 1 Atheist vs 25 Catholics or Lutherans or Orthodox etc.

He does longer form discussions on his channel. Definitely worth a look, he’s fantastic at finding a balance between his own views and that of the host. By this, I mean he’ll challenge ideas from atheists and theists alike. But I would also argue that a format like this does give opportunities for people to speak with higher profile influencers and make a name for themselves even if it’s short form.

We’re not very much alike when you have people that hurt, dehumanize, and make votes that enforces laws based on hate for minorities and women. And all simply based off an unverifiable deity that has yet to prove any empirical evidence for its existence. Then, they use that belief to justify their bigotry. Just leave people TF alone on what their personal decision is for their OWN lives and OWN body. And simply respect them as your fellow human beings instead of seeking to destroy them for living a lifestyle you don’t agree with or just simply for existing. To increase kindness and love, that’s the way.
