in Germany, you don’t waive down taxis. You either call them or approach the first taxi in line at a taxi stop. I have never ever seen anyone simply waiving down a cab, which would only make sense in really big cities where a lot of cabs are around, like Berlin of Munich. Maybe there, it is a thing. I have never seen it…

W = Water Closet, CM = Center Management, P = Parking (Car Park, Parking lot). He then said "you can go right there, there's no queue (like in standing in line). The clip with the girl being hopelessly overdressed, the German version says "OMG, look at you! Are you going to go to the Reeperbahn, or what?" (Reeperbahn means the red light district of Hamburg, where you can actually find girls sitting in a shop window waiting for "customers"). Last clip shows the famous "White Sausage" (Weißwurst), mainly a Bavarian speciality eaten for second breakfast. The black spots are not actually black, but green, are Parsley mixed into the Wurst.

The phrase 'water closet' arose in England in the 1870s. Originally 'wash-down closet', it quickly evolved into the phrase water closet through common usage. Over time, it has simply become 'WC'.

the church chime is usually on the hour, in some places, every fifteen minutes. Quarter of, one bing, half two bings, three quarter hour three bings, full hour four bings and then another chime for the full hour of the day. It is quite practical when being in town without a wrist watch, which in the day of cell phones, no one wears any longer.

Regarding the german service culture. It’s not like nobody wants to help you. It’s more like the customer is NOT king. Here in Germany peoples attitude as a customer is very important. If you treat the service staff well, they will treat you as a customer well. It’s living, working and make small business as equals. That’s the difference and that’s what many get wrong.

You do NOT need to peel every sausage in the future. However there are a handful or types in Germany where you are supposed to. One of which you saw there in the clip, its called "Weißwurst" (white sausage) it has a very thick casing as it is cooked rather than stuffed like other types. In order to resist the heat its needs protection, thats all

American in German restaurant: What horrible customer service. They have not checked up on me for at least 7 minutes and my water glass is empty for more than 3 minutes.

When I was 13 we lived in Germany for a few years. At that time, I decided to furnish my room myself and go to the local DIY market to order wood cuts for the appropriate furnitures. I asked a staffer about the best ways to join these pieces and where to find them at what aisle in the market. He sighed and said he was on lunch break now, but showed us where to find the parts he recommended. And he spent half an hour of his time explaining the pros and cons of the various joining methods, and even what equipment to use. I think that even if Germany is still a service desert, there are still staffers for whom service is a important part of the job, because they work in such jobs.

Fact about the fines in Germany: The "Bußgeldkatalog" usually only defines the max. amount of fine the violation can get. Usually the fine you really get is much lower.

Fun fact about the drunk on a bike thing: Horses can get drunk, when they eat too many apples. And if you ride a drunken horse on a public street you can use your drivers licence as well and get fined as if you were drunk.
