All the funnier because he flew over to Britain to do the show and learned his lines in the back of the Taxi on the way to the studio. The standout here is Victoria Wood. Brilliant, funny and irreverant. Gentle observational humour with barbs. She did everything from standup to sketch shows to situation comedy right up to and including drama. All successful and mostly, if not all, written by her. It's as if she knew she wouldn't have enough time here to fit everything in. Her book of jokes is text book for many comedians on how to write humour. Comedy got a bit less funny when she was taken from us much too soon. The only other comedian whose death affected me as much was Paul O'Grady, either as himself or as Lily Savage.
