Ryan the British, Australian and New Zealanders would not call that bag a Fanny Bag you should look up the word fanny. Lol we call it- a bumbag is a smaller bag that is usually attached to a belt strap that can be buckled around the waist or hip. The belt strap can be adjustable and therefore made to a specific length

I think it was originally meant to be derogatory, but bogans think that middle-class pretentiousness is ridiculous, and just don't care if they aren't "classy". So the supposed insult didn''t sting, and they just adopted the word as a self-description.

Seriously, the stereotypical bogan are mostly so friendly and carefree and are the first people to give you a hand when you're in a pickle. They don't care what you think about them, and the epitome of don't judge a book by it's cover, they'll give you the shirts off their backs if you need it - and this is coming from a middle class Aussie. This video missed one aspect of bogans on behaviour, bogans are larrikins, hilarious and out to do some silly things for a laugh.

You should really watch the Australian sitcom "Kath & Kim" to find out about bogans. And to answer your question - yes there most certainly CAN be female bogans. The bad ones are the Cashed-up Bogans who let their money go to their heads. Otherwise bogans tend to be very down-to-earth.

Ryan, unlike the US where Walmart, Target, etc. are department stores that sell almost everything from Groceries, clothes and sporting and hunting supplies, even automotive services... in Australia, Coles (aka Westfarmers) have Coles supermarkets for Groceries, K-mart and Target for budget department store (clothes, sporting goods, consumables), Officeworks for business/educational administration type stuff, Bunnings for hardware.... and guns are not for sale. Woolworths are similar, with their Groceries, and Big W is their budget department store brand, they tried to compete with Bunnings as Masters Hardware (in collaboration with Lowe's in the US) - it died.

Tradies and bogans are usually two different types. Tradies usually have trade qualifications from a completed apprenticeship of three to five years depending on the trade. The most common trades are carpenters, plumbers, electricians and bricklayers. Bogans if employed by tradies or guiding firms are generally unskilled or only have a specific subskill if tradies. While tradesmen may do hard Yakka they are generally employed for there skills and experience in that field and this generally involves more brains than brawn and a fair degree of responsibility for the project work. Bogans employed as labourers generally do the heavy lifting and more back breaking work. Tradies usually earn more than bogans over a generally much longer period. Some of the jobs that a bogan might do can earn them almost as much as a tradie, if not more, but it would also probably be hard on the body and not something that could be done for a long time. Tradies and bogans would probably mix well socially at the local pub after work but on the weekends the tradies would generally have better, more expensive, big boy's toys to play with.

A lot of people don't realize there is a region called Bogan Shire in New South Wales and the Bogan River. The largest town is Nyngan, with about 2,000 people. In the town is an army Iroquois helicopter which is a memorial to the rescue of the townsfolk by helicopter in the 1990 flood. Also there is The Big Bogan, a 5 meter tall sculpture of a bogan. He is depicted with the fish (a mullet) he has caught, a Southern Cross tattoo, wearing thongs and a singlet, and with an esky full of beer. I love the Bogan Shire, it is like stepping back in time, and the people are lovely. Unpretentious and down to earth.

Does Australia have poker machines? Does Australia have the most pokies in the world? America has its gun madness, but Australia has the pokies “Australia is home to less than half a per cent of the world's population but has 20 per cent of its pokies - and 80 per cent of those located outside casinos,” wrote Miller. He did not expect the story to garner such interest that it leapt on to the front page of one of the world's leading newspapers.

That was a rugby field, hence the different goal posts. Queensland and New South Wales lean more to the rugby side of sport than to the Australian Rules Football. Sydney gained it's first AFL in 1982 when the South Melbourne Football club relocatred to Sydney and became the Sydney Swans. For Queensland it was later still. In 1996 a local Brisbane Australian rules football team [Brisbane Bears] amalgamated with the Fitzroy Lions AFL club from Melbourne and became the Brisbane Lions, thus making AFL a truly national sport [provided you don't count Tasmania]...

Bogans are good, it's the ferals you got to watch out for.

Yes true, the Ferals are usually unemployed, have drug habits ,arse hanging out of their trousers, rotting teeth, a mean attitude, swear fight and curse at the drop of a hat. have bizarre hair long or short.. tattoos and body rings ect..usually skinny as they can't eat, and unlikely to have a vehicle. Most likely have a criminal record.

Bogans are more patriotic and tend to emphasis their accent to be really aussie battler, top cobber type bloke, the more rural you go the more likely theyd give you the wheels off their vehicle and have someone bring them more lol, theyre that friendly. Like any social group there is also bad bogans more commonly referred to as 'Derro' though, which is like a bogan but nasty and feral, more likely to be on meth or drunk trying to abuse someone or scab things for free, always at train stations trying to get ciggies from people, hanging out the front of shops etc etc. Derros suck, Bogans are friendly, fun loving and happy

I forgot about Derros (derelicts, bludgers), you certainly don't want to hang out with them, and they don't usually own cars! 😵 Bogans are usually the ones partying really hard on the hilltop at Bathurst too! 🎉

Some bogans can be complete moronic assholes but some are also the most lovely people ever! I am a little bit bogan. My neighbors are full bogan with flannel shirts and always a can in hand. They are the sweetest old blokes ever. They look out for me and help me with mechanical problems and such.

If it helps, BigW is "Big Woolworths". It is Woolworths department store brand. And QLD and NSW play/ support more rugby league (and to a smaller, upper-class demographic, rugby union) than AFL.

If anyone called me a bogan, I would say thanks for the compliment. Yes women are bogans as well and no we don't get around calling each other bogans. In Western Australia it's not an insult here. The show Housos made us look like trash, I still love that show. Bogans are very rough around the edges that's all.

A bogan would not consider him self a bogan. A tradie is a tradesman eg. carpenter, plumber an electrician, painter roofer and such.

Bogans generally/stereotypically have an affection for mullet haircuts, not always but both males & females have been know to have the best mullets out-there. They take pride in the mullets. Flenno's (lumberjack shirt) & singlets (wife beaters) & stubbies (short shorts) are usually worn. Most Bogans are nice DTE people. Eshays in Britain are called "Chev's" or "Scouser". In the States you'd probably call them White wannabe gangsters or young urban trailer-park trash. They have a fondness for triple stripe sweats (or Adidas trackies) or trackie-dacks (sweat pants) & a name brand tee-shirt like Polo/Hilfiger/Versace.
