Until now most European people are still in their pirate mindset, winner takes all, like America hegemony.

In terms of GNP PPP (purchasing power parity) China already has a bigger economy than the U.S.

Most ASEAN countries, except Philippines, had no real quarrel with China. We rather concentrate on economic development and advancement of the people's living standards than get into the hegemonic battle of the two powers.

well, aside from the Philippines, China is also quarelling the oceans of Japan and Korea.

If a developing country doesn't engage with China, it'll struggle to advance its manufacturing by sectors of factory builds and R&D because the U.S. only prioritizes Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, and Japan in Asia.. Even the Philippines under America's influence, remains poor, while the U.S. directs more investment toward Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore. They left the Philippines poor

@@footyprimeurer Actually, the Philippine economy is rapidly growing right now thanks to Pres. Marcos Jr, the son of Marcos Sr. THhe Philippines was so powerful before and during the regime of Marcos Sr, even if he is a dictator. He started martial law in 1972 to minimize the communist insurgency. In 1986, the US CIA & Pres. Reagan ousted the Marcoses by kidnapping them and deporting them to Hawaii, until Marcos Sr died in 1989. He got replaced by a naive Cory Aquino. After five awful presidents passed in 30 years, from Cory Aquino to Noynoy Aquino, the pro-China Pres. Rodrigo Duterte took the wheel and his unfinished accomplishments were later continued by the current Pres. Marcos Jr. The reason why the Philippines cannot attract more MNCs for more factories and instead make Pinoys go abroad is because the 1987 Constitution, made by Pres. Cory Aquino, is to protect her oligarch friends. The oligarchs capitalize the electricity sector and the suffering of OFWs and their poor families.

@@footyprimeurer Fortunately, the Philippines' economy is growing rapidly during the regime of Pres. Marcos Jr, the son of Marcos Sr. The Philippines was so powerful before and during the reign of Marcos Sr. When the US CIA orchestrated the People Power, the US kidnapped the Marcos Sr and his family to Hawaii and let Marcos Sr. die in 1989. They replaced the powerful and most popular Marcos Sr. with the naive Cory Aquino, the widow of a pro-Communist Ninoy Aquino. I hate when the US made the Philippines poor just for themselves. As a result, Cory made the Philippines the most restrictive country to set up factories of MNCs and instead rely of OFWs. An embarrassment to the ASEAN neighbors.

Unfortunately, some countries are still under the influence. They wasted a lot of time, money, and energy playing games with China. They don't realize that time is of the essence, and China has the time. China doesn't play games, they don't confront; they will wait out any adversary. For countries which need cooperation, a day lost is an opportunity loss that will never come back. Just take a look at some countries's subway and high-speed rail projects. They have lost 10 years of elevated GDP !!!

This is exaggerating. There is no power shift going from West to East, more like a growing power balance between West and East but even that is far away from happening. Here in ASEAN (as well as China and SAARC) there is no real hegemony between countries like what exists in the West.

This lady can't seem to understand that trade is beneficial to both sides. Otherwise they wouldn't trade. No one is forced into trading and you can choose not to participate. And it is wise not to be enemies with your neighbor since geography doesn't change. A lesson Europe seems to have forgotten
