Messi career, but last year at Man Utd, first 2 or 3 at Real Madrid Ronaldo was the best footballer I have ever seen, Id also put Maradona in the mixer, as he did it in a time when dudes were trying to break your leg and was a better captain than both of them, which is something that cannot be accounted for in stats alone. Ronaldo is more all round than Messi, but Messi is the best close control, dribbling around the box, he has the best ability to make small adjustments in his direction quicker than any player I have seen ever, and has probably been at that freak level for longer than Ronaldo, and longer than Maradona did it, However both are more complete players than Messi and in the case of Maradona actually had defensive plus points to his game Ronaldo has a few, mainly when defending free kicks/corners, Messi has None, best he can do is stay up the pitch and offer an out ball if his defence win the ball back for him. Maradona could actually tackle too, and played more in the mid field than both Messi and Ronaldo so did not score as many goals, but dragged not great teams to the biggest prizes at club and national level. Best player I have ever seen over all = Maradona, (circa 84-90) most consistent freak alien skill player = Messi ,(his career) highest level of football I have witnessed playedover at least 2 seasons by a player= Ronaldo (circa 08-13) (with Ronaldinho a close 2nd at Barcelona circa 03-06) Best out and out Striker OG Ronaldo (as in R9 Brazillian Ronaldo og circa 97-01, him and Maradona set the foundation for every other name mentioned in this post, as did Romario before him who was crazy good too and gets forgotten because of Maradona being at the same time roughly)

Remember, CR7 started off as a winger. His objective was to get the ball up and into scoring positions. Ronaldo was a super number 9, greatest striker at one point. CR7 evolved into a complete player. Unfortunately Ronaldo’s career was hampered by injuries. CR7 and his fitness separates himself from other making himself one of the greatest of all time.
