Since i was a kid i have this theory that says "ronaldinho and R9 have the best ALMOST goals in history". They do one crazy play but the ball didnt go in the net

@mikedumoskero nah he cooked with this take, r9 is slightly overrated as a finisher, go watch old games not just highlights. He could dribble a whole team tho. Imo he has an argument as the greatest dribbler ever, it's different than messi but arguably more efficient. How he dribbles was unlike anything I saw and it created absolutely spectacular near goals basically every game

I am an old Parisian PSG ultra. When Ronnie played for us, he went out partying almost every night, came to training drunk, and yet he was the best player in the league. A beast.

you're so spot on about americans not appreciating how hard technical ability is, I'm not sure what it is either because it seems to run down to the national team too. Hugo Perez (who discovered pulisic) mentioned in an interview that he offered pulisic to many MLS clubs and they all rejected him because he was too small and not seen to fit the physical game that Americans usually play. America was always a kick and run team but even the old national teams have had some technical ability like dempsey and donovan, it would be interesting to see how American development would be when they start to focus on technical ability.

The one thing that Ronaldinho had that goes under the radar is his strength and size. He's actually kinda tall and is really strong, while Neymar may be compared to him in skill, Ronaldinho could take a lot more of a beating than Neymar.

a couple of fun facts about Ronaldinho: his insane ball control is due to him playing futsal which is a type of football played in a smaller pitch with less players and since the space is so cramped, the ball control is necessary to succeed. Also, he had a problem with justice in my country and went to jail for some time and while in jail he played in a tournament for the inmates and he won that too.

Ronaldinho is magic 🪄 he played like it was a Sunday game with the boys. If Ronaldinho had discipline, he’d for sure be in the GOAT debate. God I miss watching joga bonito and him play.

Bro I 100% agree. Football is way harder than it looks. You notice better by watching matches at the stadium but mostly by playing, then you understand the ball does tricky trajectories depending on the spin and things like that, there's so many possibilities for creative people. Americans have tradition of American football and basketball so I think with a bigger fanbase and more tradition you're gonna produce monster goalkeepers and wingers. I've seen basketball players jump so high and have so much acceleration that they make good defenders, watch at home the kid Jeyland Mitchell vs Vini jr, the kid was basketball player not long ago and he dominanted vini

Ronaldinho played with a joy that made you want to watch the game. And if you enjoyed his early highlights, you should have a look at a video of JAY JAY OKOCHA highlights as well. JAY JAY (so good they named him twice) was already at PSG when Ronaldinho joined the team, and you can clearly see the influence he had on his game (though obviously Ronaldinho went on to greater heights). PSG were a fun side to watch back in those days as they tended to have younger or more fringe players that hadn't broken through yet, but were so talented. But yeah, definitely check out OKOCHA, some fantastic highlights. And like Ronaldinho doing the elastico to skip by players, Okocha did a drag over of the ball and a body swerve that was so confusing to defenders (and surprisingly isn't that hard to do well, especially if you have good acceleration from a standing start).

Certain countries had very strict work permit requirements for Non-EU players back in the day which prevented a lot of clubs from signing him, biggest reason he ended up in France. You would need to play a certain amount of international games to be able to acquire one, nowadays it's way easier.

There is a video somewhere of Ronaldinho playing when he was a kid, he already had all the moves. It is also somewhat missleading to call this the early Ronaldinho, he had a career in Brazil that took him to European football before this after all. Those where the early years.

If you’re giving the ball away while being pressured, that sounds like you could do with work on shielding the ball, and your awareness. Shielding the ball can allow a lot of time if you can do it well. And if you scan the pitch as and when you’re receiving the ball you can gauge the time you have on the ball, then if you need to make a safe pass you can. Good luck

whats up luke, i am the one who recommend that ronaldinho video, the best highlights are aerial view and little cut, or edits. the more simple the video is better, you appreciate more the skills of the player. I recommend that video because at that time you havent react to a good video of ronaldinho, almost in youtube nobody has. react to how defenders talk about messi, or players that have play or train with him,its interesting to see their perspective . this is a good video, Legends Talk About Lionel Messi!, in other video.short obi mikel talk about messi, how the team prepare to face messi.

stamina is important of course but you have to mange your effort. In football you can’t be 100% all of the time. You will be burned in 20min. Manage your stamina. Know when to press, when to walk. It will comes with experiences .. also do a lot of 1 vs 1. Just 2 people trying to pass the other one and taking the ball. It will improves your dribble ability and you will be a lil more press resistant

For me, the beauty of football video is terrible video to introduce someone into the sport. You need to know the context in a lot of those clips to fully appreciate it. And for some reason it’s always one of the first football videos people are told to react to.
