Tail of the Dragon is like a right of passage, if you ride, you gotta slay the dragon at least once!

Rt128 from Cisco to Moab, bonus for including the Rockies too, depending on how many miles you put down in a day. If you ride New Hampshire, ride the back roads up to Conway. There's plenty of nice places to stay in Conway, but I prefer to camp a couple of towns away in Crawford Notch. Either way, start out with a good breakfast in Conway then ride the Kancamagus Highway to Lincoln, then ride I93N to Rt302 through Crawford Notch and turn onto Bear Notch Rd, which brings you back to the beginning of the Kancamagus Highway. Bonus points if you stop to ride the auto road to the summit of Mount Washington. From there, ride to my favorite spot for pictures in NH, Lake Chocorua. After that, ride back roads to Laconia, home of Laconia Bike Week, and take in Lake Winnipesaukee, the largest lake in NH. I recommend eating at Hart's Turkey Farm and drinking at the High Octane Saloon, it's your kind of place. If all that is too much to remember, hook up with me and I will be your guide.

Chuckanut Drive in Bellingham Washington is a great ride with breathtaking views of the ocean. Very twisty and ends in some high speed spots at the end through farm fields.

In September, 2020 I rode up to Boston to attend a neurologist appointment for my Dad. He was diagnosed with Alzheimers and he showed us the scan of the damage done to his brain by miniature strokes called IET's. It affected me and I needed throttle therapy. My friend had planned a ride to the Tail of the Dragon, but all but two people had backed out because Hurricane Sally would be hitting Georgia as they would be arriving. Those three weren't scared though and still planned on going. I got on my 2016 Indian Chieftain and rode that cannonball from Boston to Virginia where I met up with them and the 4 of us rode to Blairsville, GA, INTO the hurricane while everyone on 4 wheels was trying to ESCAPE the hurricane. It was 18 hours of riding for me, 1,036 miles of throttle therapy for me to grieve my father's condition. The Copperhead Lodge was great, but I needed to make a beer run, hurricane or no hurricane, so I put on my hot stuffy rain gear and went into town. Luckily, when you put on your rain gear, we all know what happens: it stops raining. I tell everyone that I banished a freaking hurricane because I needed a beer! That's my story and I'm sticking to it anyway. So, the song for that road trip, that therapy, that adventure is a Crucifix song and there's no way that you didn't guess it by now, because I just wanted to get lost in that Georgia Rain. Money didn't matter, my place in life didn't matter, everything I thought was a blessing didn't matter, just my family. We left Blairsville and rode the Cherohala Skyway to the Tail and made it our bitch the day after it had just been hit by the hurricane. My Chieftain made me proud and I was lucky to have her, but some day I have to buy a Challenger and return when I'm not in that dark place I was in that day. Unfortunately right now my life isn't about me, it's about my Dad. Thanks for the song and the video. For what it's worth, my best day of riding EVER was when I woke up in Abilene, KS and rode I-70W to Cisco and then Rt128 from Cisco to Moab, UT. KS was boring, but I'd say that from Denver, CO to Moab was just brilliant. I was on a Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad 1600, and it was really struggling with the altitudes and it really felt neutered. Again, I have to make it back out there on a better bike and just ride back and forth from Moab to Denver with stops in Arches National Park and Dead Horse Point. I'm sure that you and I are very different people, but the music you make shows that this Life we're navigating through, our lives, really do have a lot in common. Stay true and keep the rubber side down.
