I've always wanted to see a historical reaction to KPOP. thanks!

Hey Gregory! I'm glad you're liking it! My plan is to slowly make my way towards the recent releases. I have to constantly fight the urge to jump forward too soon lol.

Your approach to the kpop world is so very interesting and I don’t think I’ve seen a lot of people start at the very beginning and try to really understand why kpop is what it is today and why so many people are into it. Thank you for being open minded and respectful :)

Thanks Kei! That's exactly why I started my channel... because I wanted to understand how K-Pop evolved over time into what it has become today. It's very fascinating how it really exploded into this worldwide phenomenon, in what honestly is a really short amount of time and an ocean away.

That became such an SM thing for awhile, to start a mv with scenes that maybe don't even have anything to do with the song, and a tune that is definitely not part of the song. When you get to Super Junior you'll see they did that a lot early on
@xynxreacts2 жыл бұрын
Haha, I'll look out for that!

Thanks for reacting!! You are correct they did perform with them. Also BTS also were asked to make a remake for this song, just so you know whenever you get their. 💜
@bea_hae_tae93922 жыл бұрын
I really think it's a great combination of these MVs, additionally SM decided to remastered the older ones and we can enjoy better quality and subtitles. SM has set the bar really high and to this day younger groups admire what they brought to the kpop

You will start notice more martial arts moves in KPOP as time progresses.

Dreams come true has a 4th gen remake by the group Aespa of the same company! When you get to 4th gen, you should certainly see it.

Since you’re interested, there’s this great KZbin premium show that shows the entire entire history of Kpop. It’s worth the watch and only like 8 episodes, kzbin.info/www/bejne/noepga13ZciKfa8

Thanks for the kpop reaction. In 2017, there is a video of a girl group called Dreamcatcher covering the 시대유감(regret of the time), a song included in Seo Taiji's comeback home album. Listen if you're interested. It will be a different song than you think.

Dreamcatcher is on my list of groups to react to! I'll have to note down that song. Thanks for the rec!

Dreams come true is a korean cover of a finnish song “rakastuin mä luuserin” (I’m in love with a loser)
@xynxreacts2 жыл бұрын
Ah, that's it! Just searched it up and listened. Sounds pretty much the same except for the Bridge/Rap, but... totally different title from "Dreams Come True" lol! :p

So I know that you manly focused on the 1st Gen now but BTS did a newer and own version of Seo Taijis comeback home. So hearing it again back to back would be cool to her and see.

Hi Lea! Yes!! I saw the BTS thumbnail on my first Seo Taiji reaction and several others have mentioned it as well! It's cool how it comes full circle.

@@xynxreacts Defently so will there be a possibility sometime that u react to both mvs back to Bach same thing for S. E. S and aespa. Not now but maybe if u are through the most 1 st Gen stuff? Seo Taiji after the group has disbanded had a solo career BTW. Which were more rock and metal influenced. So that would be also a cool reaction if u want.

Csn you react more to S.E.S?

You are going to be severely temped to skip ahead, but I'll stick with this if you will. The 1st gen of Kpop, and some of 2nd gen, is very awkward. You can see glimpses of what it will eventually become, but it isn't until the money really starts flowing in the 2nd/3rd gen that things get really good. "Dreams Come True" is a glimpse of what will become standard in Kpop, the influence of Europop into Kpop. This is a song by a group from Finland, Nylon Beat, a year earlier. It was re-produced in Korea with new lyrics and some other changes, but the instrumental track is the same. After this, European songwriters and later American songwriters, will flood into Kpop. This song has also been covered by every girl group in Korea, most notably by a subunit of Girls Generation.

You're right, it is very tempting, even to just sneak a peek. And Dreams Come True is a GREAT song. I watched/listened to the original and yeah like you said it was pretty much exactly the same except for the bridge and rap parts. I'll check out some of the other Korean covers later on and interested to see if they put any personal spins on it.

Hello, my opinion is that I do not consider Seo Taiji as a KPop group nor artist, even as a "first" group. He was instead just a "regular" band back in those days, with his adoption of western modern popular music, combined with lyrics that some were socially conscious, to the point of career risk & censorship. By having that combination, he inspired the youth of the times 3 decades ago & also inspired what we know now as the KPop industry. He has since been hailed as the Father of KPop, so KPop is his "child", which if you follow that logic means that he is then not part of KPop itself. One of the members of his Boys group eventually started his own label agency, YG, which had since become one of the larger labels over many years in SK. The irony of this story though is that Seo himself is first & foremost a rock & metal musician, but KPop lent towards more pop, hiphop & RnB. That of course was due to his Boys band of the time, but Seo was already a rock musician since the mid 1980's. If you listen to more of his Boys music, you will notice that it's really more of a combination of hiphop & rock, not just hiphop/rap. After his Boys group disbanded, he went to make more rock music, returning home to SK after living in the States for a couple years. This time he turned towards a little more in the Nu-Metal music genre, in & around Y2k. But he does many other genres, so he may go hard in one song & then go soft & lite in the next song. This includes symphonic/orchestral mixes. I don't want to make this comment any lengthier so I will leave it at that. Also note that most of his videos at his youtube channel SEOTAIJI do not really have any English captions. Yes, I suggest you check out his live stuff, both hiphop & rock/metal. Try out "Feel the Soul", "Internet War" & "Ultramania" music videos for starters. There are also live performances of "Come Back Home" but in metal style. I also suggest reacting to a 2017 live performance of "Classroom Idea" with BTS (featured artist). There is a 6-minute clip on it around here, although the full 2.5-hour Time Traveler concert can also be watched.

Hey Rob! I didn't mention this but I did notice the rock flavor and heavy guitars! It stands out even more against similar songs of the time, even from here in the US. Thanks so much for the comment!
