As a Samoan it really saddens me to see our beloved neighbors(Hawaii) getting priced out of of paradise cause the rich can’t feed their creed!!! And I truly hope that the whole pacific islands stays true to their culture and keep it strongly alive🤙🏼🤙🏼🙏🙏💯🏝️🫶🏼

We wholeheartedly agree! At least American Samoa has one protection. Corporate greed has not taken over American Samoa, and we don't believe it will. Fortunately, the island requires you to be native in order to own land; we wish that Hawaii had had that foresight.

@@duckysquack1625 it's the volume of Americans just wanted to live there. Demands always raises prices. That's capitalism for you. I think having one island 🏝 is grand just for native Hawaiians for heritage.

Aloha. We have traveled a lot of islands, but what is so special about Tutuila is the vibe of relaxation, love, and concern for others that everyone has. We spend a lot of time interacting with locals wherever we go, but the people and the food on American Samoa are unsurpassed. We thought we had found the most caring and giving people on the island of Vieques Puerto Rico, but American Samoa villagers have them beat! We were immediately accepted and embraced by everyone we met. We learned in a hurry that if you go hungry there, that's your fault. Even the Governor flew on the same flight we were on from Honolulu, and even interacted with people waiting for the flight. You will never find that on the mainland. We worked very hard to capture as much of this beautiful island as possible and will be sharing more soon. We can't wait to get back to explore more. Mahalo nui loa for your kind words and great advice for our future visits.

Wow! You just hit the jackpot! This entitles you to own property in American Samoa; you have to be at least 25% or over Samoan in order to own land, according to their laws. You should go there and get on the village buses, unless you know what village they were from. The native people will recognize the name and point you in the right direction. You can fly into Pago Pago and the people will help you from there. The people there are so nice and helpful, and love to talk, with little to no crime. You can purchase a tropical paradise property for next to nothing. This is what keeps it from turning into Hawaii. Sorry for the long reply, but you have been handed a gift. We will be releasing a new video within the next couple of days showing the island from the air. Please stay in touch and let us know how it turns out.

Talofa Troy, I noticed that all the NFL teams logos are supported there. Football is their favorite sport, hands down! They're an island of less than 50,000 people with 8 high schools and has the highest per capita of people making it to the NFL. That's why every recruiter heads down there. It is a little deflating to your ego when a little girl can throw a better spiral pass than you can. As far as for beer, Vailima is the local beer that comes from Western Samoa. It has a similar taste to Dos Equis. Fa'afetai!

Why is it called American Samoa why not Samoa only
@travisfamilytravels7504
@travisfamilytravels7504 Жыл бұрын
The islands were run by different countries at one time in the late 1800s. Between 1889 and 1914 Western Samoa was a German colony and Eastern Samoa became an American Territory. Eastern Samoa became known as American Samoa, and Western Samoa is now governed on its own following Tonga and New Zealand trying to lay claim to it. American Samoa is where they primarily speak English, but the locals frequently travel between the two. Thank you for your question and interest.

It’s unfortunate that American Samoans can’t qualify for US citizenship by being born and they have to apply unlike any other US territory. Unfortunately, this has been lobbied consistently to stay this way by the starlight Tuna corporation and many seafood companies based their LLC is out of American Samoa for tax reasons. Why it’s still not having to pay locals a decent wage or benefits
@travisfamilytravels7504
@travisfamilytravels7504 7 ай бұрын
It is unfortunate, but they are considered American Nationals, and it is pretty easy to get citizenship. The problem lies that they signed a treaty stating that you have to be at least 50% Samoan to buy/own land there. While this has saved the land, and we feel it has been beneficial for them, it is the difference between citizens and nationals. They can still easily fly into any American city with no difficulty. Like other territories, like Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands, they can go to any American state and get jobs, and are treated the same, for the most part. Believe it or not, American Samoans were actually the smart ones -- they kept their sovereignty, their land, and the rights given to most Americans. Thank you for stopping by.

@mmassehs3251 7 ай бұрын
@@travisfamilytravels7504 That is true, but also look up the starkist tuna Company(The same people that created the American fruit company, then known dole) is not a human It’s a corporation that legally owns a lot of the land on the island as well. They are all about 13 different S corps in SLC LLCs. through various real estate companies and land management agencies that oversight bureau management, and at the end of the day nearly all taxes go to them, and they ultimately are the islands landlord in many different aspects than simply being the largest employer. That’s why I want people to get their line, taken from not paying off their debts they have the option to directly appeal. The case there’s companies directly associated an aunt as a subsidiary of starkest.. Also, starlight has a significant amount of investments from the royal family and for that reason, they also cannot be touched. This is why Disney cannot be touched in the most recent lawsuits, governor of Florida, because the queen of England and the royal family on the land that Disney is placed on and have a significant investment in starkist since the early days. As well as the physician management agencies that regulate that island, as well as the actual country of Samoa through the commonwealth of New Zealand

There are ways to get around it. You can get a long-term lease on the land and build your home there. It's really a good thing though, so outsiders can't come in and buy up all the land and take it away from the Samoans. We don't want to end up with another Honolulu on your hands.

Wannabes? They are probably more American than most on the mainland. Nobody from any of the five US Territories can vote in presidential elections, but they do have a representative who votes in committees. Many have easily attained citizenship and more continue to do so. They made a choice to keep their land rather than allow the US to take it. Good for them. We hope they keep it that way!! We do plan on visiting Western Samoa to see for ourselves if all the wonderful things we hear are true. Thank you.
