What is sad is that PNP are not motivated to really investigate such matters. The money had to be transferred through a bank or a money exchange business - Palawan Express, MLHuillier, etc. In all cases, an ID and supplemental info is required. Why not trace it to the end. It is never attempted. Perhaps like my situation I forgot my wallet at a bank’s ATM, and the next user of that ATM found it. The bank with PNP identified the individual from the CCTV but would not contact that person because he was a good customer and the bank did not want to embarrass him with proof if he denied it. It sucks to be me. The money in the wallet he could keep. I wanted all other items back. Needless to say that was the last time I carried my wallet in Philippines. Now it’s just one ID and health insurance card.

His dream date probably wasn't even a woman. It could have been a 10 year old boy scammer in Nigeria sitting at a computer in his underwear in his Mom's basement using a VPN with a drop box in the Philippines using a forwarding service. The same scammer could have been running a game on 20 or 30 other lonely hearts at the same time. If you strike out in your home country you're probably gonna strike out wherever you go.

She got all of my property boxes here to our new house and now is in school on another island- Mindinao and hopefully returns in August after graduation. You’re giving great advice, but people will believe what they want to believe. They’re going to think “well this can’t happen to me”. A friend of mine was scammed out of probably $50k U.S. by a girl that he met 1 time in Manila (he never actually said how much he lost, I figured it was close to $50k). Me and another friend of ours was telling him to watch out, but he wouldn’t listen. First she said that she was from Cebu, then later she said that she was from Cotabato and that he couldn’t go there. As I am familiar with Mindanao, I told him to meet her in CDO where it’s safe. There was always an excuse not to meet up again and always an emergency in her life that required more of his money. She had dengue fever and was hospitalized for 2 weeks, her mother needed emergency surgery to save her vision, her brother needed life saving medical attention, several times they ran out of food and needed emergency funds, etc… Yes there are a lot of great Filipinas out there. I believe the vast majority are honest. Unfortunately, there are scammers out there and people need to watch out for themselves. If sending a few thousand dollars is the difference between continuing a relationship and it ending, it’s going to end anyway at some point.

Come to the Philippines first. Use a dating site and meet the woman in person within 3-5 days of contacting them online. Do not give them any money. if you decide that you want to move in with them and rent. Sign a lease with both parties names on it but first confirm that she is not married and does not have any children, if she’s married it is so tough to get an annulment, so you’re just better to walk away. If you’re a chump with women in the United States or Europe, you will be three times the chump in Southeast Asia, or in Latin America, etc. Now the good news, there are many great family oriented, Filipina’s, but you have to do your due diligence and research just like any relationship. Don’t be a Chump.

Good reminder for everyone to take to heart. I think the most common cause would be desperation of some guys who think they are clearing out and moving to 'the dream'. Likely thought entering in blind was a 'good ideal', but reality can really bit you in the backside when you live your life with a blindfold on. I guess he should've taken the common advise to stay at least a few days in a hotel, and look for a place to rent. Even an ABnB or Verbo would've been a good choice to start. A difficult life lesson, and there are many who end up in similar situations. Personally, I am working on setting up my move, and it may take a bit as I will first relocate in the US, to set up a small homestead and have my younger brother handle it when I make the move to the Philippines. No girl friend ahead of time, and not even thinking of such matters until I get settled into where I want to establish my 'base camp'. After that, if I happen to meet someone, fine. If not, I still plan on visiting around the country sites and travel around Asia visiting other friends. if things don't work out, I still have a place to retreat to, along with sufficient funds to cover such situations.

I met my wife in person several times and stayed for more than 4 months before I decided that we were compatible. Now that I live here in the Philippines, I know that taking my time, was one of the best decisions that I have made. My wife when I was still living in the United States, never asked me for anything. I definitely got lucky with this amazing Filipina. If I was going to send any money, it would have been enough to buy load, and that would have been it. A sad story though I have a good one. Met my wife on Filipino Cupid, fell in love, bought property in Lapu-Lapu with her, and married her online with a Utah official during the covid days. Everyone thought I was going to be a scam victim (even my bank would not let me transfer funds to purchase the property), but sometimes you know, with experience., that you are not being conned. As business school and life taught me - buyer beware. I am here in the Philippines now with a loving wife and could not be happier.

The amount of men that send money to woman they have never met is just way too high. Men will never learn, get trashed on by woman in the west. Meet some girl on line that is nice to them, and they loose everything they have because of a smile and a I love you. It is sad, truly, but no one did this to him but him. The girl is obviously did him dirty, but he allowed it to happen, a simple "smart decision" or "critical thinking" could have been been a game changer here. Well, it happens cause they are lonely and a few women, not just Filipinas, know what buttons to press. You need to meet them in person and spending time with them first. Know who they are. Big clue is if they ask for money within a few times chatting with them. Don’t give money no matter what the issue is. They are pulling on your heart strings.

A Filipina scammed the stupid me for a lot of money, 10 years ago. She used every trick in the book and more. She was ice cool and very skilled. She had only one mission, to suck me dry of money. There are thousands of girls like this in the Philippines and Thailand. My only advice is, never ever send a dime. If "your" girl even asks once for money, ditch her and forget about her. At first, I hated her intensely and blamed her for everything. Now 10 years later, I must say that it was all my own stupid fault. I knew all the time that there was a big risk involved.

I don't think he will be fine, if they just pay his airline ticket back. They will not pay for a place to live. It's cold at night in America and things cost a lot of money. They have a program for low income but those can take more than 15 years to get on, if you even qualify and that program Is even open in the State you live in, most aren't open. A lot of people from other Countries think Americans are rich, will be taken care of and don't struggle in their County, that's a completely false perception.. Most people can't even pay their rents, food and bills by themselves with the wages they get there.

It’s a high risk business and difficult to say what is the best approach- I’d say don’t risk more than you can afford to lose in any event, to do so is damn stupid. Even when you’ve met someone and spent time with them or are living with them realise there are no guarantees and the only sane approach is to be cautious and maintain an exit plan in case you ever need it. This is especially important for older guys who may struggle to replace their assets or savings should the shit hit the fan. It’s not worth it bro, keep yourself safe.

I agree with everything you said. My story with SE Asia scams goes back to the 80s. I'm stationed on at Kadena our unit was part of the 9th out of Beale so we were a small group with 1 barracks for the entire unit. We could travel most of SE Asia using leave which many did. One guy took his 1st trip to Korea and fell in love. He comes back showing us her picture and he's sending money, talking marriage. We're were mostly E4 and below so this man had his parents sending money so he could support this girl. About a month later a friend from another unit comes to visit talking about how he met this great girl in Korea while on TDY. He showed me the picture and it's the same girl my co worker is sending money. This is these guys learn about the Philippines from vloggers but don't take any of the free advice given. Even if you are sending money why send more than the average salary which many say is less than $10 a day.

Thanks for sharing this sad story! I hope more people will learn from this, even if I doubt... Lets be clear, I totally agreed with you. Sending money for communication and birthday gift is okay. And most women you meet online from Philippines, Thailand and Cambodia, is good girls/women. But you have to be on guard for the scammers. And not to sound too harsh, this guy asked for it. It was a recipe for disaster. You just don't give out money to people you never met at home! So why in a foreign country?

One thing about sending money. If you have done your best due diligence and believe your pinay is the real deal: how would you feel after meeting knowing you could've helped-out the one you love and didn't. For me I sent money ,150usd a month to help out. I have continued to help out my very soon to be mother in law with 100usd a month after moving here april of 22. I would not recommend this for most, but I am very happy to have done so. The key is the due diligence part, and how reasonably caring you really are.
@Matipid_Lolo
@Matipid_Lolo Жыл бұрын
There is no due diligence if you never met her. 1. An internet relationship is not a real relationship. 2. There is no diligence if you only see her 30 days (1 month) of a year. Due diligence is when you are in the same country seeing each other every week or living together.

@@Matipid_Lolo I,m sorry, did I say anything is 100% ? Due diligence from afar is different than from inside the Philippines. If you are not in the country you go by gut, what they say, their availability, and video chats, facebook pages, checking other dating sites, there is no sure thing. but you can use reasonable care to mitigate risk. Nobody ever used the 30 day number, so I have no idea where that came from....Nobody said there is ANY certainty until boots on the ground for an extended period of time, and even then you can be taken....But if you choose to not help than don't expect a lot......

Excellent advice. Tamp down your excitement and expectations and remember that you should never, never, never ever risk your lifetime efforts on someone you don't know. It takes a long time to understand who or what a person represents over a year. You would also want to see them in the flesh and dig deep in all areas of that person's life to truly get to know and flush out any concerns. Sad tale, don't become desperate, there are many thousands of good decent, Filipinas but as in all areas of life do your deep "Critical Thinking" is absolutely key to you having the right mindset about what you want to achieve. One cannot make any decisions involving who or what the person is, or is not ,or what they truly represent using any Video Chats over any any electronic devices. In person touch and get to know over a long time again a "Year" is more ideal to get to see and interact with her and to meet and understand who and what they are. Critical thinking is just what it means ask questions nothing is off limits. Your future depends on getting answers and "Vetting " is what must be done, there are no shortcuts.

Was it a house, or a car and the furnishings of an apartment? 🤷 3. Did the guy even have a plan? What was his plan to stay in the country? Did he have a ling term visa? 🤷 Great headline but facts are unknown.

Online conversation is just process for getting to know her. I must admit after knowing my stance most just disappear which is fine with me. I would though send presents like clothes, chocolates, vitamins etc.

Ok, guys. Listen up, Its not brain surgery. Put this right in your dating profile, ok? Rule #1: You have to have your initial greeting and introduction on Video call. There is no excuse why this cant happen. If they make up excuses, they probably are a catfish or scammer. Rule #2: Put in all caps that you will NOT send money to someone you have never met. After you've gotten to know them better, fly there and spend a month or at least a couple weeks. Putting this in your profile, will scare off a lot of scammers. Rule #3: Dont try to impress them with bragging about how much money you have. These aren't western women, the good ones dont care so much about what you have. I did the opposite in my profile. I said that I was a simple man and I struggled every month to make ends meet. When I met my Filipina, she told me " Money doesn't make a marriage or relationship last, Memories do." like I said...not like western women. Trust me when I tell you, be honest and forward with what you want and what you're looking for and you will find it.

Hi Gio, good morning from Australia. Your points in this video are spot on 100%. Unfortunately, there are guys out there who will never believe the girl whom they have met online is a scammer or someone who is only after their money. The common comments would be I know her very well and she isn't like other girls... really well Unfortunately in so many countries around the world this is the case. I have very straightforward rules in regards to relationships in the Philippines that have served me very well. I'm glad my life lessons in regards to relationships were founded pre the world online dating and the Internet. Have a great day Jeff. Australia 🇦🇺

I chatted to several girls from different sites and you are right about sending a small amount for a load to communicate or a birthday gift but no large amounts. Most of the time I just say sorry I don't send money to someone I have not met in person. It is a bit different if you have been chatting for a while so send a small amount but never large amounts. I have met girls at the airport but have always had my own accomodations just better that way then if it is not working out you can ask her to leave. I have never used Christian Filipina for the simple reason they say they appreciate American men. Not men from other countries just American men and they say that is every ad I have seen for their site so I find that a bit discriminating. There are lots of sites out their you just have to watch for the red flags. I have been chatting to girls in the Philippines for about 20 years and have heard just about all the reasons why you should send money to them. One even told me if I wanted a girlfriend here I had to send money to keep her. Hmmmmm. Have heard too many stories of guys getting scammed out of everything and ending up with nothing.

The same goes with getting married to someone you recently met. Are you 100% sure she won't just drag you to divorce court in a few months? If she arrived on a marriage visa, the immigration laws say an American sponsor must financially support her for ten years, even if divorced. Most foreign women study these laws prior to marriage.

I'm one of those guys who most probably think is silly. But, I pay for my girl's wifi, her cheap apartment, food and personal needs. It isn't a lot, and I can afford to lose the money, if that happens.. It's worth a few hundred dollars a month to me, for the company, the caring and just the emotional support I receive from her. No large expenditures though, and she hasn't asked, either. She offers me receipts for things she buys, the rent, etc. Do I trust her? Yes, and I'm faithful to her too. She spends most of her time talking to me on calls, is available whenever I want to talk, supports my decisions and choices, etc. I will be moving to the Philippines once business matters allow it, and she is the only one I plan to be with. However, I am not selling my home, going to rent it, and I will be taking precautions that most others don't take. Do I think it will work out? Yes. Will I be okay if it doesn't? Yes. Am I retired? No. Can she get all my money? No. Am I planning to live near her family? No, none of her relatives live near the area at all. I have researched all areas of the Philippines over the last few years, and chosen an area with great medical attention if needed (I am 60, in good health). It's within 1/2 hour of a major safe city, within an hour of an international airport, and an area that is cooler so the heat won't 'melt' me. The land is cheaper, lower building costs, never bad typhoon damage, no flooding, no serious earthquakes, reasonable rain fall, decent wind consistency (for wind powered electricty generation) and plenty enough sunlight (for solar paney installs), etc. I know I cannot own land, and won't pay for any until I know things are for sure solid between us, with a solid prenup, and if needed, I can have a full-Filipino family member, in the US, who I know I can trust, buy the land so I can build a house on it. I will have multiple business income sources, from the US, and they cannot be run without me, although I will be setting up my future wife so she won't have to work again. Do I suggest that most others do what I am doing? Maybe, but only if they won't be devastated by a possible loss, from doing so. If on a pension, that isn't a high one, or living on SS from the US, I advise being very careful P.S. You don't know me peeps, so don't assume I am an idiot, naive or stupid. Far from it. I have contingencies for everything. Be nice with your comments please. 😁
