Sorry the rest of the broadcast isn't there. Some of you may notice this is a partial repeat. Some of the material was contained in a previous video was to demonstrate an amp and tape deck and was recorded from the speakers w/ mics. This is a direct analog to digital copy and includes all the rest of #'s 34 to 1, sans commercials. This one's a little long so grab a cold beverage and enjoy!

Yeah, I know the feeling. I was only 8 when this was broadcast. At that age my only aspiration was to be a radio DJ though, so stuff like this still holds a lot of interest for me.

Surprised to not hear even one Elton John song in the top 30 since I recall he dominated top 40 radio in the 70s.

This originally aired in the Washington DC area on January 2, 1980, I believe. I know that it was a Sunday, the usual day that Casey's show aired at any rate. I was eighteen. Casey was the best.

Debby Boone’s “You light My Life #1????? How much did Daddy Pat shell out to make that happen. Had to have been a bundle. Must be why he’s 90 something years old & schilling walk- in bathtubs. Bless his heart.

I wonder if Herb Alpert played his trumpet solo during the song "(They Long To Be) Close To You" by the Carpenters.

Anybody remember which episode he talked music trivia about a wasp flying into singers Samantha's mouth? Been trying to find it for years.

it is good to have this countdown as the annual ones were not very accurate. Debbie Boone's You light up my life ended 3rd on the 1978 countdown. It was partially accounted for the weeks it had stayed until then in the Hot 100

Good point, not sure where it is. It should be ahead of Best Of My Love by the Emotions (number 20). It was the number 1 hit of the calendar year of 1977.

The calendar year chart, January to probably early December, had Andy Gibb at 1, Debby Boone (closing in fast) at 2. Billboard's Nov 76 to Oct 77 chart had Rod Stewart at 1, Andy Gibb 2. In both cases Andy Gibb was ahead of the Emotions so I Just Wanna be your Everything has to be in that decade end top 20 somewhere!

Y’all keep forgetting that this is the 50 biggest hits of the 70’s. It’s not how long they stayed at number one, but how long they STAYED in the countdown, individual sales, and requests.

I think its an omission. 23 weeks in the top 40 isn't bad. It dominated the late summer of '77 alongside Best of My Love. Huge hit but it's just missing. Everything else in this chart makes sense.
