Well ill take a europen truck any day over here they are the best since they can turn realy good on our roads. Some of the us trucks can barly turn just becouse of the disign of them. lets just face it europe old style of roads, us is quite a new county and have big spaces wher this type of trucks works. ill drive a swedish truck that is 25,25 m long that a trailer with dolly and the truck it self that is about 9 - 10 m long by it self. You have to know befor if you can drive truck and trailer or if you have to uhook the trailer befor you go ther. thats our normal driving in sweden.

They are better taken care of. Laws in most European countries for all motor vehicles are extremely strict. They have to be tested yearly, if they fail, you have to get it fixed quick or they take it off the road and its a pain to get them back on. Some countries, a dents or surface rust is a no go.

Making Europe better one 379 peterbilt, w900 kenworth, a900 kenworth, Mack superliner, needlenose pete, and freightliner classic at a time. So great to see that some of the American greats are seeing use and love overseas as they become a dying breed here in the states. At least 389 Petes and W900s are carrying the tradition of having that beautiful hood out there. We have so many steering wheel holders now that would have a panic attack behind the wheel of these trucks now that don’t even need to be behind the wheel. In many parts of the world, American models are purchased as collectibles (usually by the transport company owners themselves). The problem with American models is excessive fuel consumption, they are only used in 90% of cases in North America, where the price of fuel is cheap, in other parts of the world, thanks to taxes, they make freight prices unviable for a transport company.

@@Vladpryde So right now the most powerful production truck is the volvo fh16 750, with 750 hp and ~2600 ft/lbs of torque. The most powerful drive train in the US is the one based off of the cummins isx15, for example the peterbilt 389, with 600hp and 2050 ft/lbs of torque. However, the peterbilt comes with an eaton-fuller 18 speed manual, but the volvo is stuck with a 12 speed auto. That being said a truck owner would have a much easier time getting more power out of the peterbilt than the volvo, the peterbilt is easier to repair, and US laws are much nicer for truck modding than EU/UK laws.

I was stationed in Germany while in the U.S Army and it was always ice to see an American rig come roaring through, it was like a piece of home. I've always wondered if there's American truckers who decided to drive in Europe. Anyone know of any?

it's funny because some of those trucks are no longer used in the states due to being out of date and american truckers trading them in for newer models so the european truckers buy these in auction and keep using them for hauling. Glad to see the European truckers admire the American designs

Yes European roads are less wide then those in the USA. However our cars are usually also smaller then the American model (tough that diff has been brought back quite a bit). Another big difference between the trucks is here in Europe we have turning rear axles on the trailers to make tight corners easier. City roads here are basicly based on how the place was already build up over 100+ years ago and they are not designed in square like blocks as in the USA. We also have more strict rules about safety/emissions etc
