Is there a real difference between Elite and Ultra?
@mark-jurado Жыл бұрын
Great playing and great video. One thing I really appreciate about Fender is that even their product demo videos are inspiring. There are licks to cop here, tone settings to spy, a cool sounding amp to listen to, and it's a real demo - not just "sounds cool, check it out". Thanks, Edwin and thanks Fender!

Since I bought my first American fender, I used to own (not all together), a pro, an elite and finally an ultra. And even if, at the beginning, I was convinced the ultra wouldn't be better than the elite, I have to admit that I was wrong. They really did a great job improving the flaws of the elite serie. I see a lot of people complaining, there is no trussrod wheel anymore, but this is actually a good thing: This wheel was hard as hell to turn (nothing comparable to other wheels on other brands) and in the end, my luthier discovered that the wheel was just some plastic linked to the trussrod with...nothing except some grease, so after a year it could move back and forth like it was broken (and it was not)... In the end, I now only own the Jazz ultra and nothing else

I have this Bass it truly is the best Bass I have ever played, and what is amazing. people always turn and look when I am playing its tone is simply the best I was a P bass man for quite a while, and still am at heart... but the jazz just is the ultimate Bass thank you Fender.

@christianneuner25956 ай бұрын
I own one in Texas Tea and I love it, especially the neck. There’s no fretbuzz at all using Rotosound RD66 strings. I just hope I don‘t have to change a pot in the near future. These are soldered directly onto the circuit-board, which has 2 layers.

It's good to see fender making more 22-fret basses, I've always felt that 20 frets limited the playing options a lot. Plus the high-mass bridges will increase the sustain and slightly reduce string buzz.

No graphite inserts in the neck to improve stability and sustain, no truss rod wheel to adjust it, no through body neck..? Except for the modern D neck that get flatter at the at higher registry this is worse than elite series.. And also seems to have more fret buzz!

I was very disappointed in that. The quality of the workmanship is terrible. I already sent the second one back. Impact injury on the same two pieces (Texas Tea, Ultraburst). There is a gap of almost 1 mm at the junction of the body and neck. Strings and pickup poles alignment are terrible too. I always want a Fender jazz, it was my dream, but I have to give it up. I'm very very sad. :(

Fender cut corners on this bass they went from ebony to rosewood, the trust rod adjustment is all screwed up and to top it off they kept the price the same as elite which I have the only thing they upgraded was the bridge I hate my bridge on my elite I have to tape pinky finger cause Allen screws stick out of saddles and cut me up so now I have to spend another 200 for a hip shot bridge after I already spent almost 2000 for my bass 🤦♂️

I strongly advise against buying this model!! I am writing from my own experience. Although this instrument has everything very well, at a high level, the wood, its treatment, finish, original color of the pickguard, etc., has one terrible problem that completely removes it from any more advanced playing - very high action of the strings. On the HiMass bridge, when the saddles are lowered to the max, we have the distance to the neck from the strings, as in the cheapest instrument from the 80s. It is catastrophically high, disqualifying from any faster technical playing. The only way out is to give a new (!) instrument to a luthier to mill a recess for the bridge, but that's probably not why we buy a new instrument of this class.... I anticipate questions - I have Jazz Bass fretless on a regular Fender bridge, there is no problem in setting the low technical action of the strings. The HiMass just has a terribly thick foot, a base that adds a few millimeters to the level of string suspension. 100% failure.

Just give me a passive p or j , don’t care too much about what line of fender either. Tone is in the hands, gear does not make the player.

Came to hear a high end fender and heard garbage. Not sure if it’s this guy’s playing style or just what this bass sounds like but it doesn’t convince me to shell out $2k for it. I’ve had my eye on a couple Ibanez basses that cost half as much but sound way better. I like the classic look of a fender but the tone just doesn’t do it for me at this price point.
