Conner, I love your videos! I’m also an American (from Pennsylvania!) I’ve been watching your channel since 2019, and I have been trying to learn German for about 5 years. Unfortunately, I rarely get the opportunity to hear from and/or speak with German native speakers, so I’ve been practicing a little bit off of your videos. I know it’s awkward sometimes, but try to speak to the locals as much as you can/feel comfortable with! I miss seeing you interact with the Germans like you used to! Please keep up what you are doing! It’s always great to hear from you! I wish you the best! #Boombabyletsgo

The hills you were pointing at from the castle is the front of the "Schwäbische Alb" or just shortly "Alb". It's a really big part of Württemberg and has some beatiful, and partly actually breathtaking nature. Tübingen is very close to were the Alb begins, so you can see the first hills (some call it the "Blaue Wand" ,the "blue wall". You can see it from places even more far away, like Stuttgart). I think you should visit some places there at some point, like the Glastal, or the "Donaudurchbruch" (thats one of the really breathtaking places!). Great video btw! 😁

Baden-Württemberg has two larger mountain areas: the Schwarzwald (Black Forrest) and the Schwäbische Alb (Swabian Alb). Additionally parts of other mountain areas are reaching into Baden-Württemberg as well: the Allgäu in the South-East and the Odenwald in the North-West. The Schwarzwald extends from Lörrach and Waldshut-Tiengen in the South to Pforzheim and Bruchsal in the north. East of the Schwarzwald the mountain area of the Schwäbische Alb extends from Tuttlingen in the South-West to Aalen in the North-East. Since the Schwäbische Alb consists of limestone entirely its landscape and its vegetation is quite different from those of the Schwarzwald. Although Tübingen isn't located near the Schwäbische Alb the next big city of Reutlingen, south of Tübingen, is at the foot of the Schwäbische Alb already. The younger sections of the rivers Donau (Brigach) and Neckar can be seen as flowing between Schwarzwald and Schwäbische Alb. And between Tuttlingen and Ulm the river Donau (Danube) actually forms an southern limit of the Schwäbische Alb. The Schwarzwald is limited in the South and in the West by the river Rhine.

Around the 40 min mark you mention that you like to just go and film and not be like "oh we're going to see this or that or whatever". I really like your style of video; it's like going on a trip with a friend and just exploring and seeing things naturally. It's a really unique and cool way of filming and it's a great viewer experience. Keep it up, good work man!

I love to watch your videos, its great to see your genuine interest in the places you visit, keep going! I actually used to live in Esslingen and moved to Tübingen for my studies. I still cant say which one is more beautiful to me, however the average people in Tübingen seem a little more civilized and open minded compared to Esslingen. At least in my experience. And since 1/3 of the population in Tübingen are students, the nightlife there is really special, I can only recommend.

Wow, you came to the city, where I live. Amazing to see! At around 7:00 in the video you are on what is called the Neckarisland. The Birdhouse at 9:50 was build to regulate birds. Eggs from birds especially doves are taken out and replaced. What you see in the inner city at around 13:00 is the "umbrische Markt". I was there yesterday. It's a mainly italian market with some french and german stands. At 22:20 you see the Rathaus "town hall".

Yeah. Schönes Video! Bringing me back nostalgia feelings. I worked there in a book store for 3 Years. You walked by a bookstore called Heckenhauer thats the place where H. Hesse worked as a beginner.( You mentioned Hesse in your Calw Video). Though I worked 3 years in this town I can even learn something from you: I didn´know the place Goethe threw up.!! But you can learn somethinh from me once and for all: what you see in the far is not the Schwarzwald, once again it is the Swabian Alb. When you´ll be there the next time, you should visit the historian museum of Hohen Tübingen (Schloss where you walked around). There you can see the oldest art objects of mankind; little animals made of mamoth ivory by our ancestors in the ice age about 35 to 40 000 years ago.. They were found in the caves of the Swabian Alb. One more advice: some recomand that you should go to the Oktober Fest. The "Canstatter Volksfest" is the second biggest Volkfest in Deutschland und Dasselbe in Grün (almost the same) and near by. But may be you were already there 4 years ago when you were in Germany.

Story about Tübingen? They buried an elefant in the moat of the castle. When an elefant died in the Stuttgart zoo, the archeologic institute in Tübingen asked for the body and buried it in the moat behind the castle, just where you looked down. They wanted to study how bones develop in earth. When the department for water mangement found out about that, they got in trouble and had to excavate the body again. The story of Goethe puking comes from the sign which many cities have, telling "Famous person stayed in this hotel overnight". Such a sign can be seen at the house of the publisher Cotta where Goethe stayed overnight. Students made fun of it and installed the famous "Goethe puked here" on their house. The story might have some truth, as Goethe noted some unwellness during his stay in his diary.
