The reason they are called "Jaffa" Cakes is because the port of JAFFA in Israel was the main source of oranges in the UK after WWII, so Jaffa was the origin of Quality oranges. The reason Hershey's is hated in Europe and the UK is because Hershey's contains an ingredient which prevents milk from rotting. The same ingredient is found in vomit. So to us Hershey's tastes like vomit! I like the video, you guys come across as genuine people and you just earned a subscription! 😍😍😍

So far you're the only Americans I've heard who say "Jaffa" like we do here in the UK. I've noticed most say "J-ah-fa/Joffa" rather than "Jaf-uh" like we do. So yes, you were saying it right haha. Irn Bru is what I drink every day pretty much. I live in Scotland so it's the "national drink". It is basically a bubblegum like drink, but it has a few extra flavours added too. There is a drink here called Tizer made by the same company that is mixed Citrus fruits, and I've always thought Irn Bru is the flavour of Tizer with bubblegum added to it. Flakes are good if you smash them up before you open it and pour it onto ice cream.

Hahaha, although I often pronounce things wrong, Jaffa cakes, looked like "Jaffa" to me. That's funny! I just searched for the Bubblegum soda, I see it online, but can't find it here in the US sadly. Jaffa cakes, are classed as a cake and not a buscuit or cookie as you would call, In the UK a buscuits that has chocolate is classed a luxury and has tax on them, but cakes dont have tax, to the point it went to court and jaffa cakes won and is a cake, the reason they won, is, if you leave a busciut, for a few days it goes soft, where if you leave a cake for a few days it dries out and goes hard, which is how they won, and classed as cake and no tax on them

Walkers - which is both older and bigger than Lays - is owned by PepsiCo (who own Lays) since the early 90s, hence the shared branding. Believe it or not, the Sun Logo on Lays was an adaptation of the banner logo used by Walkers, with the addition of the yellow sun behind it. There was even low level talk of rebranding Lays as Walkers, though that didn't go very far and was never seriously considered. The Logos of both were merged around 1997.

Irn Bru is certainly NOT an 'orange soda' - the only thing that's orange about it is the colour. Barrs don't make the details of their recipe known to the public, but if you ignore the colour, you'll certainly find no orange in there (try drinking it blindfolded if you're that easily distracted!) There are two flavours that are really apparent, (and I'm sorry, Barrs, but GIRDERS isn't one of them!) Most people can detect the flavour of quinine, i.e. tonic water, and many people detect a distinct taste of eldeflower. If you can get hold of some elderflower cordial, and dilute it with Indian tonic water, though you might have to experiment with the proportions, but if you ignore the fact that what you end up with isn't in any way 'orange', I think you'll find the flavour of Irn Bru. (By the way, in Scotland it's pronounced "I-run broo".)
@StevesRealReviews3 ай бұрын
Wow, you are the 2nd person to say Irn Bru is not orange. We need to try it again, the mind can play crazy tricks on our taste buds for sure! OMG, I don't think our taste buds are sophisticated enough to detect eldeflower. I have said in all of our mystery flavor videos if we ask 10 people what something taste like, we will get 10 different results. It's wild. WAIT a minute what does Quinie taste like? Isn't that used to treat malaria? I was in the military, got lots of weird vaccines and other stuff, but can't say I have taste Quinine, how interesting! Thank you for watching and your comment!
@IkarosWaltz3 ай бұрын
I can occasionally taste Banana in Irn Bru, so I've always been convinced it is "Bubblegum" like, which would be strawberry, banana and cherry, but with citrus fruits and elderflower as well. I suspect it is basically Tizer with "bubblegum" added to it.

@@StevesRealReviews Hmm, I'd say its sort of a fruity iron-y taste to it and I love it 😆 over here it is considered the best chocolate we have, but I've heard some Americans say it tastes exactly like theirs. However before Cadbury was bought out, a lot of people loved that chocolate. Never been my favourite Cadbury, horrid taste. Nestle is fine, I just don't like how they test on animals for their brands. Again I'm not a big chocolate lover, but Terry's chocolate orange is wonderful with a glass of milk. Double Deckers, KitKats and Lion bars are all my favourites too. It was an enjoyable watch. Its just nice to see what others thing to our foods, even if some things have declined over the years other things are still going fresh. I hate to say that my sister picked up some Jolly Ranchers and I just could not eat them. OH OH, what is the proper Tea that we should have on head for next time? Why does Earl Grey Tea come to mind?
@UKCougar3 ай бұрын
@@StevesRealReviews So, OK. Contrary to stereotype, the Brits overall drink tea and coffee in about equal quantities. Either is acceptable for biscuit dunking purposes, go with your tastes. There is no "correct" here beyond snobbery. Hell, try both, compare and contrast. Earl Grey is supposed to be taken black (ie without milk), it's not most people's go-to choice. If you want a regular everyday "British tea" then you're looking at PG Tips, Typhoo, Twinings (who do a range), all are mostly some variant on "breakfast tea" or Assam. Yorkshire Tea is popular though I'm not a fan personally, I think I'm on the wrong side of the hills and the water is different. "Proper" British tea is hot, strong, left to brew for a couple of minutes and then has a splash of milk waved at it. It's supposed to be brown. Some people add sugar, I think this is revolting, but again just brew to your tastes. No-one can tell you that something is wrong if you like it. "Iced tea" exists here but, well, it exists and that's about it. "Hey, if you're going to the shop can you pick me up a bottle of iced tea" said absolutely no Englishman in the history of ever. I've never seen anyone drink iced tea by choice outside of North America. If our tea goes cold, we throw it away and make a fresh brew.
@UKCougar3 ай бұрын
@@StevesRealReviews Oh, if you like peach tea (you weirdo😁), there's a variant of Earl Grey called Lady Grey. It's flavoured with... orange I think? Not my favourite, but I'd choose it over straight Earl Grey. I have absolutely no idea whether it's available pondside at all.

As soon as you suggested you were going to dunk your Jaffa Cake, I almost screamed "NOooooo!!!!" out loud. You seemed to survive the experience in the most part, but for future reference, the reasons you should NEVER dunk a Jaffa Cake are three: 1) The chocolate topping will immediately melt into your brew, changing the taste of your tea or coffee into something unidentifiable and unpalatable!) 2) The sponge cake bit will almost immediately transform itself into what can only be described as 'sludge' and will sink to the bottom of your brew, making it undrinkable 3) the orangey bit in the middle will somehow pass through some kind of worm-hole to another part of the universe, disappearing magically and mysteriously from your Jaffa Cake!

Chocolate hobnobs are a superior buscuit and Irn Bru outsells Coca Cola here in Scotland one of the few countries in the world that does. I am from Falkirk the place where the Barrs company which makes it was founded, the old building is a minute away from my house, I could tell you all sorts of information about the company, its expansions, all sorts of things, EXCEPT what flavour Irn Bru is. The can will tell you "Sparkling flavour" probably. The recipe is one of the best kept secrets in the world. That is the old recipe they used back in the day, It's got a little bit of an aftertaste, the generally produced stuff is a little sweeter. The crisps have the same label because Pepsi owns the company Lays and the Company walkers, along with a few others, its similar to the pepsi logo. Jaffa cakes are cakes, there is no duty on cakes in the UK but there is on buiscuits, the company went to court to prove that they are a cake and won, they argued that a cake starts soft and then when it starts to go off, turns stale and hard, where as a buiscuit starts hard and turns soft when it starts to go bad. So they're definitely mini cakes.

Over here there isn't any money to be made from sick people, so they save money by making sure things don't get them sick in the first place. Yes, as you saw, there was just a tiny little soy sauce packet included, not much for sure. I honestly did NOT think I would like these, as I hate mushrooms, but funny, we paused the video so I could eat more of these, LOL - Thank you for watching and your comment!

im going to be nice about this, but irn bru is simply irn bru flavour, its just its own thing and thats all it needs to be and its best to leave it at that, also it has no orange flavour at all
@StevesRealReviews3 ай бұрын
I've been told here that it's Orange, Creme soda, Banana, Bubblegum and a few other things. You know if you ask 10 people a flavor of something new, you will get ten different descriptions. We get that ALL of the time when we do mystery flavor items on this channel.

I have a very good palate and I can definitely tell that Irn Bru has banana extract in it.

I only wish I had a few more Irn Bru, to try to think of the other flavors people told me it taste like. But what I do know is that we loved it. Thank you for watching and your comment!

That IRN-BRU is an orange drink from Scotland
@StevesRealReviews3 ай бұрын
YES, I saw that later in Wikipedia, and it was GOOD!!! Have you tried them before!! It took me at least 1/2 the video to pin point that Bubble gum flavor and then it just came to me! Super Good! Thank you for the comment!

Only 'orange' in colour - try telling a Scotsman that it's 'an orange drink' and he'll soon put you right!

American chocolate taste like vomit to the Brits It tastes funny Has a acidity vomit taste it It's something to do with How Hershey treats the milk

Yes, you are not the first person to say that in these comments, and I can not disagree with it. I think that is why when we try GOOD Chocolate from other countries we are always impressed. That's what happened when you grow up on Hershey's Chocolate here - Oh we LOVED the Flake bar and the Freddo, so good! Thank you for watching and your comment!

@@StevesRealReviewsWe have to have good chocolate in UK because Swiss, Belgian and Italian chocolate to compete with. As much as I like ours, Lindt, Kinder, Ferrero and Guylian make amazing everyday chocolate too.

@@dylandrew6071 Oh, I hope we find some of those chocolates to try in the future - Thank you.

Irn Bru tastes nothing like orange, you are influened by the colour. It is more like cream soda and bubble gum in flavour. Personally I hate it
@StevesRealReviews3 ай бұрын
YES, I have to agree, Color totally messes with the mind. Like the Purple Mtn Dew we immediately think Grape, etc. I was all happy that Bubble Gum came to me later during filming, I kept thinking, I know this flavor but can't figure it out. I don't think LeeAnn ever did taste the Bubble Gum - But I did really like IRN BRU for sure! Do you drink it often? Thank you for your comment!

@@StevesRealReviewsI don’t think LeeAnn tasted orange at first but Steve thought it was orange right away… she’s always right! 😊
