I think what makes this super challenging is the fact that errors made by a native speaker (with native intonation, vowels, and reductions) are not nearly as glaring as when they're uttered by someone for whom the rest is somewhat flawed as well. I did notice woooodland, poo-blish and wohrms - but I've never encountered the word "registry" so I wasn't sure about that one altho I noticed you were saying it differently each time you used it in a sentence lol. The illustrator part was tricky because my tendency would be to stress the third syllable as well for reasons I can't explain because my native language always stresses the first one lmao.

Great to get your thoughts on this! I thought this task was so hard that I actually shared it with a group of native speakers (and my cousin who this was about!), just to make sure I wasn’t overdoing it.. they found them all, but I was actually impressed as I had been doubting whether it was a reasonable task! I’m thinking of crafting a vid in which I mispronounce a word to a native speaker (without the expectation being there) to see if/how easily they pick up on it!

@American Accent Mastery Wow, I appreciate that background info a lot, thank you! It's fascinating to hear how you come up with these things haha. I can't wait for that video if it comes to fruition, it sounds fantastic ;-) It really does give us an insight into how minds of native speakers process their own language and there's certainly a lot of lessons to be gained from that! Keep up all the great work please :-) :-)

Thanks so much! I just wanted to add one thing that just came to mind: one friend identified “aunt” as a mistake, since where she’s from, it’s pronounced like the insect pretty much exclusively. I thought that was also insightful re: frames of reference, etc!

Hi there! oh, gosh, yea it was difficult, i couldn't notice any of those mistakes, but who doesn't like torturing oneself with the hard tasks ?) I like the idea of raising the bar, that's how you get better i guess, through pusshing the barrier, and I really enjoyed it, thanks for your great job Victoria)

I’m glad you enjoyed the torture Pavel, haha! Filming it was torture too, I had 30 minutes of footage for a six minute video;)

Here's one for you: did you know that the only difference between "cell phone" and "self-own" is a tiny, almost imperceptible pause?
