Loving this series! Tim Smith is the best. If there were another GB movie, he should get a cameo of an obscure unknown townsman that he is one of the few people who ever heard of him. Tim wouldn't take a role that everyone knows. Tim is a National treasure! Great job everyone

When I visited Gettysburg 30 years ago, we began to realize why the preservation vs. development conflict always happens because basically, if you want to build anything in Gettysburg, you're building it on the battlefield. Thank goodness for the ABT!!

Hi from Mexborough, South Yorkshire in the UK! I’m really enjoying the Gettysburg 161 series so far, well done Gary Adelman and all the team! It’s really nice to see coverage of the battle in the town! By the way, what a really pretty town Gettysburg is! I really need to visit!

Love your channel and American Battlefield Trust. Just in Gettysburg may 2024 with my son. Missed re-opening of Little Round Top. We'll be back. We found ourselves coming back to Tommy's Pizza at S. Washington St. and Steinwehr Ave. Great Pizza. Historic since 1973.

My great great uncle served in the 19th Indiana of the Iron Brigade and was killed in action on the first day at Gettysburg. He was originally buried by Confederate soldiers in the yard of the Lutheran Theological Seminary. One of his comrades was wounded and captured and witnessed the burial. That gentleman was left behind when the southern troops retreated after the battle and was able to identify my uncle's grave and therefore he was moved to the Soldiers National Cemetery where he still rests today.

Another great video folks! Last year I had the chance to visit the Adams County Beyond The Battlefield Museum and it was well worth it. Their Caught in the Crossfire exhibit is pretty intense! A few years ago I also got to visit the Lutheran Seminary Museum, also well a visit with its exhibits on the place of religion in American society at the time and the building's experience in the battle. Plus who can resist a chance to go up in the cupola?

I’m with Tim on this. Unlike the commercialized focus on the second and third days fights… I’m a passionate fan of the first days fight because of the tremendous southern victories! If only Stonewall had been leading that front, things would have been much different on the second and there might not have ever been a third day! So yea, give me day one!

I second the recommendation of the Seminary Ridge museum! Having a kid at Gettysburg College means I’ve tried a number of restaurants in the area but of the ones Gary mentioned I d only been to Federal Pointe (it’s good). Will need to try the others before the kid graduates. :)

The events of day one led Lee into a false sense of confidence. Longstreet saw the field, and should have been listened too. He wanted to move around and get between the union and Washington.

The least said about Gettysburg, the better. That's the way we Southern folks feel, so let's hear everything about day 1 for sure. The Adams county historian is too opinionated for ABT.
