Good info hear. I’m one of those people that turned down the radon test when I bought my house years ago… if I only knew then… 😂

I don't think you are correct. The seller must pay for the mitigation system once they are aware of the issue. We backed out of a house that had high levels and now the owner must disclose this going forward. No one should every buy a house that has high levels of Radon unless its corrected.

When it comes to choosing a radon mitigation contractor, it's important to consider whether the seller has your best interests at heart. Based on our experience of handling numerous calls and bidding on many projects for sellers, it seems that most sellers prioritize finding the cheapest contractor who can reduce radon levels below 4.0 pCi/L. However, we believe that we owe it to the future homeowner to do better. If I were the buyer, I would prefer to be offered a credit and have the freedom to choose the contractor I want to work with. With this approach, I would have the opportunity to select the system's location, avoid having an exterior system if possible, choose specific accessories, and prioritize a quiet, effective, and energy-efficient system. This would ultimately provide me with more control and ensure that the radon mitigation system meets my preferences and needs. Many of our clients have the system installed after closing, as was the case with the house we worked on last week.
