Ronaldinho was a joy to watch. The closest to the ball, imaginative, he could do anything and a smart-a** 😂. Most of all, he seemed to be having so much fun, it was contagious. Sadly, he didn't take good care of himself/his life, so he ended up having too short a career...but not taking life too seriously, I think, is what made his playing style so easy and delightful, too...so you couldn't get one without the other. Ronaldinho was true to himself. Football is very old and there are a lot of greats, but I would say he is in the top 15 or 20 and, regardless, he is the one that makes me smile every time.

The water bottle trick: the offside rule in footbal says you cannot receive the ball from a teammate if you're more advanced in the field than the second last defender (including the goalkeeper), unless you're behind the ball's position, during cornerkicks or throw-ins as in this case. As the game was paralised for some reason idk, he went to opponent's goalkeeper to ask for some water, past the second last defender, and stayed there unnoticed untill the referee allowed the game to restart, and since it was a throw-in there was no foul at all.

He was the first player to see Messi's insane talent and became friends with him really quickly, I think geniuses can recognize each other. Unfortunately his prime did not last very long, he had like 3-4 seasons of true magic football. But even playing for a short period of time he managed to become one of the most accomplished players of all time, he won a World Cup, The Champions league, a La Liga title and the Ballon d'or (best player in the world).
