I recommend you also to listen to NCT (under SM Entertainment): NCT is a male group that stands for Neo Culture Technology. They are now 21 members, but their number is unlimited, so new members will be added. It also consists of the fact that most of them are foreigners. For now there are four sub units: NCT 127, NCT U, NCT Dream and WayV. They also released a song: "Black On Black"-NCT 2018 where there were 18 members (the total number of members in 2018). Sub units will increase over time as members.

Itzy is a great group. They're top class among female groups for choreo. They're one of the few female groups that isn't boxed into doing "easy" dance moves (a lot of hand and arm movements that falls short of the skill in tutting and doesn't display the athleticism and skill many male groups do). So I've always loved Itzy for their choreo and hope they continue to set a new standard for female groups. On a side note, if you like tutting, you should check out Irene and Seulgi (2 members from a group called Red Velvet) and their music video Naughty. Another great group is Mamamoo. They're less choreo based, but have the best vocals in the industry right now (imo). I also appreciate that they act like the grown women and bring a level of maturity to their songs. The members also have a hand in creating their own music, which makes it all the more heartfelt. And then there is (G)I-dle (pronounced "idol" or "idle", though I think a lot of Westerners pronounce the "G" and say "Gee Idle"). Uh-Oh, Oh My God, and Lion are some of my favorites songs by (G)I-dle. I was drawn to them because their rapper, Soyeon, writes and produces a lot of their music. I'm a sucker for anyone that can rap, sing, dance, and write/produce the music as well. This is what makes a performer an actual artist, I think. And I stan any young women making a name for herself in a male dominated industry. And I'd be remiss if I didn't recommend BTS. BTS is a male group, but if you're delving into the world of kpop then you can't avoid BTS. In many ways, BTS is bigger than kpop and can't really be classified the same way other kpop groups are. Their dancing is amazing, top notch for a male group (not necessarily the best, but it's often the style and movement that lends itself to the song so well that their dancing is still better than another group that is more in sync or has more skill or tricks, because the choreography "pairs" with the song and tells its own story). BTS also has, imo, the best rappers in the industry, 2 of whom came into the group as established rappers and didn't simply train for it because they couldn't sing (which is what you find more often than not in other kpop groups). And 1 of the rappers was so dedicated to the craft and learned from the other 2, that his mixtape Hope World is one of the best there is (not to mention he's such an amazing dancer). BTS also write and produce their own music, which is a huge reason for their success, because they're so damn genuine and honest with their lyrics. Not to mention the insane storyline they've developed over the years that runs throughout their albums, music videos, short films, and webtoon. BTS puts the Marvel Cinematic Universe to shame with how complicated and interwoven the story is, and it's still ongoing. They're releasing a game for it (btsuniversestory.netmarble.com/en/). BTS have set a new standard for what it means to be an artist. Not just talented performers (like most kpop groups), but true artists. Which I'm sure sounds very pretentious. But it's best way I can think to describe them to convey that they are different and in their own class. Also, if you react to BTS, please do so with an open mind. So many reactors who are new to BTS, particularly male reactors, have a kneejerk reaction and label them as a "boy band" like NSYNC or OneDirection, and have this misguided belief that only teenage girls should be their fans. A solid 25% of BTS' fandom is male, and the majority of BTS fans are between 30-50 years old. Not that there aren't many teenage girls who are fans, or that there's anything wrong with that, but it's food for thought and a good indicator of the impact their lyrics and music has that their fanbase spans all ages, sexes, gender identities, races, and ethnicities across the world. BTS is truly global, which cannot be said of other kpop groups, not to the same extent.

@Josh G V-logs I’m really not in the mood to write a long response to the original poster but please don’t believe them when they say girl group dances are generally easy!! that is NOT true at all. girl group dances are different than guy group dances, and they _can_ be easier, but most of the time they are just as difficult! for non-dancers i think it’s a lot harder to tell whether choreos are hard just from looking at them which is why so many people say gg dances are “”easy”” when that isnt true at all :))

@@Leah-tn3dn I can't say for all female groups, since I'm only familiar with a small percentage of all the groups. I've definitely seen exceptions. But overall, as someone who has studied and followed dance since 2008, female groups receive choreo that is focused on timing and arm movements. Overall it requires far less athleticism than the choreo performed by male groups. Female groups often receive "cute" choreo as well that I'm sure requires a great deal of practice to get the movement in sync, but hardly taxes the body. Personally, I'm offended by this disparity between male and female groups. It amounts to, imo, women being treated as if they're too weak to handle more athletic choreo. And in some cases, where the members are placed on harsh diets, this is true since their underweight bodies don't have the endurance or strength needed. They might look like tiny like ballerinas, but they have none of the muscle of a ballerina. I wish this weren't the case. I wish the pressure of being thin didn't exist and undermine their athletic ability. And I wish athleticism wasn't often considered a "masculine" quality. Itzy displays a great deal of athleticism in their choreo. There are other female groups that do as well. But 8 times out of 10, the choreo requires skilled timing and hand gestures, but you're not going to see jumps or kicks or much footwork at all. "Grace and beauty" seem to be the staples of choreo for female groups. Make it look graceful, make it look "sexy", but don't make it look powerful. -_-

They popularized the idea of self producing idols (producing and writing lyrics for songs, choreography, etc.) and are known as the kings of synchronization.
