Your conversation at the end reminded me of a time i was being a lil shit with some friends. I was a freshman in high school and i went to the mall with my best friend and some of her friends. We hit up the toy store to browse, a couple of her friends were messing about with some silly entertaining toys and the clerk must've noticed we weren't gonna buy anything, so she said "Get out!". We started leaving and on my way out, i purposely knocked a box off a low shelf-immediately felt bad, so i put it back and continued on out. It's one of those core memories i'll remember now and then because i felt like a shithead. Now as an adult, i'm sure she was already having a shit day and we definitely didn't help. Hope she's thriving in a good career or something these days lol

The Cotswalds does have a lot of rich people. It's where a lot of people who work in London finance have their weekend homes because it's straight down the M4 motorway to London. They often retire there too.

Generally though, most people who are seriously rich in the U.K…. Leave the U.K. because our tax laws on the rich are absolutely insane. If you earn over 50k a year, you pay 40% income tax on it.

That accent was created because of all the American Broadway and theatre people trying to put on "English accents" poorly during the industrial revolution to the beginning of radio and tv/movies. So... it caught on because all those actors transfered to mass media using the same crappy English accent. Most of them being from New York with New York accents and so that's why the transatlantic accent sounds like New Yorker putting on a terrible british accent. This is why the transatlantic accent had started to disappear in the 1950s because media had been around for awhile at that point, so all the other Americans started becoming actors and could become actors just off the street, or because they simply looked good.
