I live in a coastal town and was at work one day, outside with my boss. We noticed a car pull up on the highway and the driver got out, ran across the road and bent down, we couldn't see what he was doing for a moment because of the fence. Then he stands up with a big snake, runs back across the road and gently tosses it into the bush. When I lived further out of town, in the country, I came across a big python across the road, I got out but no way I was going to pick it up, i just started nudging it with my foot to get it to move. Another car comes the other way, stops and a mate gets out and say "ah, another beautiful day in the valley, just kicking the snakes around!" It moved off the road after that. We don't usually run over snakes (many are protected species) if we can avoid it, especially outside of the cities where they're just a part of life.

Such a nice video watching people helping others. I had an incident were there was a huge spider in my car, luckily I didn’t see it and my niece calmly asked to stop the car. When I did she told me and I scrambled to get out, I also refused to get back in till it was taken out. Weeks after I was paranoid about finding another one, still to this day that though gives me the shivers.

@@Kayenne54 I had a friend, a very large man (195cm or 6'4"-ish and muscled to match) driving a VW who had a Huntsman drop on his hand on the steering wheel. He left the road, hit three guard rail posts, drove through the rail and hit a tree. He was towing a trailer. With each hit the car took, the trailer punctured the rear of the car - the engine in a VW at that time. When the car came to a rest, he unwound himself from the driver's seta, saw the Huntsman now crawl onto the roof. He put his fist into the roof to kill the spider.

@@Kayenne54 Actually, I was raised on a farm and can move snakes off paths, milk and herd cows, manage bulls, ride horses, kill chickens, gut and skin pigs, etc. This was just a matter of shock at the suddenness of the creature appearing on the windscreen. With the quick glance I had, I didn't know whether it was in or out and I was taking no chances of losing it in the car with my two babies in the back seat.

The bystander effect is a real thing so seeing people help is always awesome :) as for bikers, there are good and bad like all subcultures, a lot of bikers do toy runs and stuff here, lots are all about the kids, on the other hand, lots are all about the meth... Good and bad everywhere I'm fortunate enough to have found the good in most groups and subcultures, maybe because that's what I look for.

There are bikie groups and biker groups .Bikie groups/gangs engage in activities outside the law, are 'patched' and have to 'earn' their 'patches'. In Australia there's a difference between a biker and a bikie. A bikie is a member of a non-legal motorcycle gang, and they have a bad reputation for organised crime activities, shootings, and corruption. A biker is simply someone who rides a motorcycle, or someone that belongs to a legitimate motorcycle club. Legitimate motorcycle clubs are highly respected, often do awareness and charity drives and other things that gain them very good reputations in their communities, so seeing someone on a motorcycle isn't a scary thing in Australia, as bikers are the majority, bikies are a minority.

We had a car accident years ago. The ONLY people who stopped to help us was one trucker (who called the cops and an ambulance), and a Christian Biker gang (sounds weird, I know). Everyone else just slowed down and gawked. Those Bikers safely got us all out of the van, with no worries for their own safety. and sat with us until the Ambulance was there and the Cops could take care of us. Bless them.

Bikers are generally more helpful than car drivers. There is a general etiquette for us to nod to each other on the road, and this tends to encourage bikers to help others in need. We are far more courteous than most car drivers, primarily for self-protection. Of course, there dipsticks on bike, just as there are in cars. People doing good deeds are normal and commonplace in rural and especially remote areas where a breakdown can be life-threatening.

Such a sad indictment. Americans, understandably, have concerns for their own personal safety (e.g. getting shot!) if they show compassion, random acts of human kindness and respect and helpfulness (refer time 12.30 approx). Also, the aversion to kindness to people who are homeless, I find particularly concerning. Bikers aren't allowed to be assholes in Australia . We have very strict laws regarding gangs and organised crime and "Biker" gangs fall neatly into this category . So any non affiliated motorcycle riders (such as myself) are keenly aware that we can be pigeonholed by the police (potentially) based on our behaviour . I have seen this happen , police have the power to confiscate your motorcycle simply on suspicion of being connected to a gang , so ......... be aware .

Miles, my suggestion is use the last swivel/hinge on the BOOM of you mic boom to 'angle' the mic out towards you face. As it is current set up the last bit of the mic boom that holds you microphone is angle vertically, not on a oblique angle as Phezz has his set up. Look at his. See how his last little bit of the boom where the mic is attaching to the mic itself is angled? On yours it's not angle at 45º or more and because it is damn near vertical it often almost covers you face. IN FACT, you guys CAN move the mics further away (as you have done occasionally) and we can still hear you so it's NOT so critical that you have the damn thing up near you chins. Especially the last swivel/hinge. It can be pushed further away and use the last little extension on the boom to bring the mic to your mouth. I hope you don't find me overly critical on this. But my OCD has been nagging me about this for months. Love your work. I hope you enjoy Aust. when you get here. If you make it to Sydney, drop me a line on one of these posts and reply and I'll meet up with you both and buy you a beer or two! And show you around Sydney, FOC.
