American viewers always demanding the songs to be in English and ranking them lower if they aren't just because THEY don't understand the language is such a pet peeve of mine, I really had to try hard to not click off the video😅

SAME i don't get it?? i like songs better when they're not in english.

I agree. It made me mad. I am in Australia and only speak English, but, you don't need to know the lyrics to feel the song. Switzerland was robbed.
@albiegato4 жыл бұрын
It's a double-edge sword. On one hand, English lyrics make it automatically understandable for them (for the most part) and it's an easier reviewing experience because they have the whole package at hand. If they don't understand the lyrics (even jarbled, mumbled English) it's hard to judge it on the whole. The viewer loses some of the messages and symbolism that comes with the package. btw I think that's why France 2018 lost so much steam going into the grand final (lost of symbolism from the staging, as well as being a metaphorical song in French). Alex did try remedying it by giving them translation sheets of the non-English song, but then they won't look at the screen, which could look like them not paying attention - which is another thing for us to complain about.
@sharkfinn44 жыл бұрын
I get it. It can be harder to connect with a song, especially if it's a message song, if you can't understand what they're saying. I absolutely love it when countries sing in their own languages, but at the same time, I understand why it can be detrimental.
@tetea72574 жыл бұрын
I think's it's because they are really not used to listen to anything but english songs and maybe can't appreciate it they same way we can.

They had no choice but to cancel it. Eurovision involves more than just what happens during Eurovision week. There are weeks of rehearsal, building the stage, camera movement rehearsals, etc. With 2 months left and them being literally prohibited from beginning work on building the stage, they had no chooce. And they were right to. With a month to go, things have worsened.

Italian 🇮🇹 song was really good this year...The song "Fai rumore" (make noise) has been sung in an EMPTY Arena in Verona during the hardest days of Lockdown for covid-19.... The paradox was that the singer (Diodato is his name) ask his former (and absent) girl-friend to "make noise" because now the house Is empty and silent without her.... And he ask for this in an EMPTY Arena (that Is built in Verona by the Roman at the same time of the Rome Coliseum and that is used nowadays as well) when in Italy everybody was asking and looking for the same thing OUTSIDE and not inside ... all italian (me too) wanted hear some noise from the street...the places...the cars.... But there was only silence....the silence of fear...the silence of the dead who comes with the breath 😟 He says that "questo silenzio innaturale non lo posso sopportare" ( I cannot stand this unreal silence) and - believe me - he was talking for all of us 🇮🇹

Wow! That was exciting watching the scores come in and the entries move up and down! It was like watching the actual show!!! I hope you all do this unofficial version again and again! It’s fun! And it’d be neat to see how close you all would get to the actual winner. In school they did that for US Presidential elections where they’d get a sample ballot and copy it and give one to every student in the school during 1st period class to vote. As I was part of the organization that was responsible for counting, I got to be a part of that. Our school accurately predicted the winner of the 1992 and 1996 Presidential election with our unofficial election by elementary, junior high, and high school kids of a rural school district in Oklahoma. Though while our results were correct nationally, it was incorrect for our state’s electoral college votes (not even close since my state uses a winner-take-all system for its electoral college votes just like all but two states use) which was actually what we were supposed to be trying to guess. Great video as always! Oh and I like Lauren’s idea of having you react to American 90s music! Could be fun to watch!

Thanks again for doing this! It was really entertaining. Things to take note: - Top 5 biggest disparity between the juries (collectively) and televoters: 1. Lithuania (19 places) 2. Norway (16 places) 3. Bulgaria/Georgia (14 places) 5. Denmark (12 places) (I did not expect to see some songs to fall in this category except Lithuania and Georgia) - Overall top 10 songs that the juries (collectively) and televoters agree on (with 3 spots or less difference): Russia, Iceland, Malta, Romania - Overall middle-ranked songs that the juries (collectively) and televoters agree on (with 3 spots or less difference): Italy, Ukraine - Overall bottom 10 songs that the juries (collectively) and televoters agree on (with 3 spots or less difference): Latvia, Spain, The Netherlands - Only 1 song that is consistently top 5 with all 4 juries individually and televoters: Russia - Only 1 song that is consistently top 10 with all 4 juries individually and televoters: Malta - Only 1 song that is consistently in the bottom 10 with all 4 juries individually and televoters: Greece (SURPRISE!!) - Songs that are pretty consistent with the juries (all ranked in top 10): Azerbaijan, Denmark, Malta - Polarizing results among the juries (with 2 juries voted top 10 and 2 juries voted bottom 10): Switzerland, Germany, Italy (I did not expect to these 3 songs to fall in this category) - And yet again, Sweden is overrated with the juries. LOL.

Well I couldn’t find where the UK video was filmed, but did find out some information about who the guy is that keeps getting in the cold water. »The song was written in Scotland when he was staying near a loch with his mates, Ed Drewett, Iain James and Adam Argyle, Newman said, "We were jumping in the loch every morning. This was January. It was freezing." The song was inspired by a documentary about a diver in the North Sea who has to be saved after getting cut off from the rest of his crew, and the video features Dutch cold water swimmer Wim Hof. Newman also said, "It got us thinking about what you would for other people." Iain James was one of the co-writers for Azerbaijan's 2011 winning entry, "Running Scared" which was performed by Ell & Nikki.»

About the UK, I don't know where it was filmed, but that is not the UK. We either get such little snow, it's sludge, or we have to trudge through it halfway up our shins. I know the guy singing it is John Newman's brother, and this was his big chance to get into the spotlight. He said in the Eurovision 'replacement' show, that he wrote the song after watching a documentary with his friends about deep sea divers or something water based, and he was talking with his friends about what would they do if they were in a life or death situation like the person in the documentary.

Alexandrumic, The Latvian national final performance: I'm curious why you didnt use that. The detailed music videos are distracting from simple evaluation of THE SONGS. That is one reason why I was very pissed at Lauren.. She allowed her dislike of the BUlgarian video to rank a brilliant song far down.

One last comment: Are Zack and Mike brothers or related? They look kinda alike.

I did like the first and second songs, but, third place deserved the win. Having said that, based on the reaction video, I expect the third place song to be lower on the score board as the panel just didn't seem to understand the masterpiece it is. So, in that way, I was pleasantly surprised and happy that it at least came third if it couldn't win your partly American results.

I think the fact that we all go for different styles of music helps... Zack wanted more rock (he had 1)... I like slow song with strong messages... Lauren likes to be happy... and Amelia doesn't want any extreme stuff...

Do you guys realize how good Ulrikke from Norway sings. Her voice is just beautiful, and I think she would have won. I were sitting there actually. Her song and voice is stunning. I deaply disagree, it deserves at least top 5.

I'm Spanish and you are right, the song this year was not good but we didn't decide who to send there. Nevertheless, Spain sent Melanie to Eurovision Junior last year and I would be glad if you reacted to it, the life version if possible, she is incredible.

I‘m so disappointed that the ESC is cancelled. I‘m swiss and we would‘ve had a great chance this year too. I‘m glad, that Gjon will also represent Switzerland next year tho.

Tobias Manuel that would be so great. You would have won this year and Gjon shares my first place with Iceland. In this past weeks it is these songs alongside the Italien song, that I have been listening most too. Much love from Denmark ❤️
