When i was in the Philippines i turned on the FM radio on my Airbnb and all the songs played were in English and its non stop American English songs 24/7. No wonder these talented young Filipinos was influenced much. It's easy to go from one place to the other because people speaks English well.. Though they were influenced by Spanish as well but I see a huge American culture when i was visiting the country... Subways, malls signages were in English. And karaoke is everywhere i think during pregnancy their moms just singing on karaoke, they are not stress and they are happy and welcoming people.

Lea Salonga (the judge who ran up to hug the singer of “Don’t Stop Believing”) is the original star of the musical MISS SAIGON in London (1989-90) and Broadway (1991-92) and won every major theater award for her performances. She is also the only person to voice 2 Disney princesses - Lea is the singing voice of Jasmine (“A Whole New World”) and Mulan (“Reflection”). The girl who sang “Home” is Esang and the reason Lea shouted “You are mine!” after turning around is that Esang previously appeared on another tv show as Lea’s “mini-me” and sang from ANNIE (which Lea starred in as a child). When Esang finishes singing Lea goes up to her and they explain to the audience their connection. Lea is confident Esang will choose her (which of course she does).

Another trivia is that one of the coaches is not only a Tony award winning actress, Westend and Broadway royalty but also a 2x Disney Princess for singing for Jasmine in Aladdin and Mulan. Hope you could check her performance of A whole new world decades after with il divo in their Japan tour , IL DIVO & Lea Salonga "A Whole New World" 10-3-2014 and her singing Reflection in Disney Legend awards.

That confidence you're seeing is a result of no judgement and no pressure environment to practice their craft in whatever environment they perform in. Be it at home with their immediate family, or at parties they're at, at school with their peers & teachers. A positive environment for talent encourages these kids to keep practicing for fun. Yup OMG on the song choices. What we consider oldies in the US are still very popular in Philippines. And if you didn't start tearing up during that Amazing Grace, you're dead inside😂😂😂😂

Ms Lea Salonga (one of the judges) is no other than the original singing voice of Jasmine in the Walt Disney classic ALADDIN as well as MULAN. She won the Tony Award for Best Actress for MISS SAIGON back in 1991. She was also in the musical show Les Miserables playing the characters of both Eponine and Fantine.
