With Aussie dollars, you only need a quick squiz at ya wallet and see if you’ve got enough cash. 4 pineapples & a few lobsters and you know you’re set.

The story that has come to my ears about the American dollar (dunno if it's true but it wouldn't surprise me) is that the place that actually makes the dollar is privately owned. That is, it's called the federal mint (or whatever) but it's about as "Federal" as Federal Express. Therefore the dollars that it produces aren't owned by the Federal Govt. but are loaned to them. The govt. actually pays a private company for the use of their product (the product being currency) if this is true then it means that every dollar, as soon as it goes into circulation, is worth less than a dollar (because the govt has to pay for it) That means the govt is always in debt as long as it uses the U.S. dollar. Now, considering the power of the Lobbyists in the U.S. how likely do you think it is that this will ever change? Hopefully this answers Mackenzie's question about Govt. debt. (if it's true)

As you print more money the actual value of it decreases meaning it takes more to pay for the same thing . As said b4 the pressure on inflation will increase again meaning the value will decrease .

As a cashier, I can tell you that many people still use cash and require change. The government just can't print money arbitrarily, they only print to replace what gets destroyed and as directed by the budget. To print more, would make the money worth less.

The more money a government decides to print, the more pressure this places on it's inflation rate. So it can have a very negative affect on a countrys economy.

The government also has to have enough in reserves to cover all banknotes printed. Wouldn't have a clue what that means, that's what I was told by someone who does know when I asked the same question. I just nodded and pretended I knew what the smart person meant.

Greg missed the stop sign because tism. (this is serious mull) and he was too stoned. Actually officially TISM will say it stands for 'This is serious mum'. But it's true meaning came from a band member saying "this is serious mull" commenting on the quality of it.

Physical cash and digital cash are the same thing... Most of the money printer goes burr is digital. The reason less physical cash is printed for circulation is because they want to encourage digital transactions over time... Because then they can switch all your money off for wrong think. ... Chances are better than even that the US government will make the ownership of physical gold illegal in 25/26... Before you think conspiracy nonsense, they did it before in the recent past.

They can't just print more money to make more money...the more money printed the less the money is worth...also most money is linked to gold reserves because paper money is just a certificate of value you exchange that's worth a certain amount of gold. Coins are similar as the metal and weight of the coin is supposed to be worth its value...so a 25C coins metal value is meant to be worth 25 cents for example. In Australia when we changed from pounds, shillings and pence...they made a round fifty cent coin that was made of 80% silver...this coin then became worth more if melted down and sold as scrap than the 50c value so it was recalled and replaced with our current fifty cent coins with no silver content.

When you print money it need to have value. Most of the world uses gold to back it's money, if you pront $2000 per oz of gold you have a value of eg: $2000 poz, but if you print $4000 you will only have $1000 poz. As you print more money the value drops, most new notes are to replace old notes.

They skipped the $20 to go to the $50 because the $50 was the most counterfeited note.

The less of something there is the more valuable it is. If you print more money it's value goes down. Zimbabwe tried printing more money. It became cheaper to use money as toilet paper than to by toilet paper because the money had less value. It's called currency saturation.

Keep in mind that every time you use your "card" it actually depreciates your money. Whilst banks and card corporations may only make a small % on each use, it is still done at YOUR expense ( and the traders), especially if you use a credit card. Going cashless will simply underwrite ever larger profits for the finance sector.

Our coins are the same why different sizes and groves on edge of one and two dollar coins Also the fifty cent coin is a octagon in shape used to be round all the changes was for the blind to determine what coin they had Same goes for our walk way crossing they beep different sounds so they can locate and then know when to walk Also have raised arrows on buttons and what direction to walk all for the blind it was invented here The guy refused to patent the idea as he wanted it to help disable people all over the world for free Which you guy use now Also they now design the sound volume to change with environment so there not loud at night But volume goes up during the day depending on noise around them they adjust the volume automatically As lots of noise the increased volume doesn't upset people and reduce as noise around them reduces Their is a video on it Cheers guys

Historically the lowest value currency note had a portrait of the reigning monarch, which had been Queen Elizabeth II for well over fifty years. Now it is King Charles III but apparently the new Australian currency notes will no longer display a portrait of the reigning monarch as an agreement had not been reached between the Australian Mint and the Royal household on what form that portrait would take.

The American government doesn't even "own" it's money. The money is printed by the federal reserve a privately owned company who then lends the American government the bills and charges a fee. This is against this is against constitution which states the government should be responsible for printing its own currency.
@daveofyorkshire301

Money is not just a piece of paper, it is an economic instrument that carries with it a measure of government debt like bonds, and more importantly through Fractional Reserve Lending banks create debt. You only see 3% of the currency actually in existence the rest has been created out of thin air as debt by the banks... Each person will have significant debt created by their loans which in turn through their use multiplies that debt exponentially through other financial institutions. Every time you print more money you devalue that which exists, that's inflation, and Quantitative Easing was another name for debt creation and massive stored up inflation... You can't just create money without paying for it later. You, your children and your children's children will be paying for Quantitative Easing... That's the bit they don't tell you whilst you're spending your electorial bribe at the expense of your children's, and theirs future.

1988 I tried to sell some of those uncirculated $10 notes in Hawaii - was a no go as they were flooded with them so took them to a bank to exchange. The teller was shocked & called the manager who agreed he never saw them before - but I was flat broke so needed the $$$$. Future notes had Braille imprinted in a corner.

they skipped to the 50 as it is the most counterfeited. you have to go into the bank to get $100's, so most people use $20's and $50's as thats what most ATM's spit out. when you hand over a $50, nobody bats an eye, but when someone hands over a nice, new, crisp $100, you look at it. so counterfeiters go after the $50's as its the highest value note that is not looked at terribly closely.

I use cash only as i dont pay fee's on card Products have gone up more use cards as business gets charged as well So it gets passed onto consumers so you pay twice and your money's worth less Also you can keep track of spending as with cash you set budget for week If run out then depending on how important it is wether you withdraw more cash or save it Its a great way to keep track of your spending and where you spend it and where wasting it Cash is king Only use card in emergency Alot of business are now posting the percentage you'll pay on transactions and many are getting ridd of them as its cost them Because they cant pass all the costs on to you especially small ammounts they lose as was small profit on item and card fees are bigger

Just here to say that the BS that has been going on over on your British reactions is absolutely not ok and I’m really sorry to Mackensey for all those idiots giving her a hard time. The Brits have done this to other reactors too - there’s a certain superiority complex amongst many of them (not all) and while Aussies aren’t perfect I would hope you would see less of that crap from us than the Brits. I think Mackensey is a lovely and sweet person and was simply trying to be true to herself. Anyway just felt like it needed to be said.
