after finding out manrika's backstory it makes sense why everyone wanted her to win and she never got a single vote throughout the entire week. she had a brain tumor when she was younger and her family financially struggled from it and then last year her dad passed away- her mom was heavily in debt after that and it's been hard on their family. she's been working towards getting her mom out of debt and buying her a house for a year now which is very sweet.

The thing is you guys are thinking of it as a game show rather than a reality TV show which is its main purpose. If the only content was the challenges and the rest of the show was just them sitting around as one big happy family talking about how much money they've saved people would've stopped watching by episode 2. Even the sidemen would've interjected at some point and said "guys you're all content creators and we've brought you together to create content given us some content!"

The cast engaging with the challenges and them just interacting with each other alone is enough to produce entertainment and content. Episode 4 is proof of that. The main point of the show is to produce content, engaging with the challenges to win the money and interact with each other. But that said, authenticity does not need to be sacrificed for content. It’s better to produce entertainment with some genuine comedic humour with only a few people watching than to just produce entertainment with humour that borderline/ flat out disrespectful or annoying. It can also explain why a lot of people didn’t like the ending of the show, myself included.

Its tough i think people's biggest mistake was seeing the prize was a million. it never was it was a potential prize. I think if they had a physical box with a million that they can see disappearing makes it more real. Also the money made by the influencers coming out of this is worth the sacrifice for "content" in the game than the prize itself.

As soon as Leah was voted out I assumed that they would end up nothing and realistically they should have I feel the sidemen had to essentially handicap how they organised the game to the sheer ineptitude of the remaining players. I had no attachment to any of the cast even after learning about Manreeka and her past I feel no empathy in fact it makes me dislike her even more (I am not saying she wasn't entertaining). The idea that they wouldn't have spent if they knew they would end up in the final makes me feel physically ill, although with their lack of self control I understand that this just wasn't feasible. if on day one they bought 100 cereal with milk they would have spent £10000 and be done for the week I get its not as entertaining but Jesus Christ watching them celebrate every time they kicked out responsible person was unreal they're celebrating their own self destruction. The real heroes are Fanum and Casselo as soon as it was a whoever was the loudest and most likable I was celebrating every penny they lost. i think if the player were playing for a charity of their choice it may have made them at least think twice about buying 40k on sweets in one day per say. Watching Leah go without anything from the shop only for the winners have a party with prosecco felt like a constant slap in the face.

I actually agree with most of the things u said, though the sidemen cant do anything about how people play the game. The show would be a lot more disingenuous if the sidemen persuaded how people would get eliminated, since there shouldn't be any plot armor. Leah, Nife and Joe lost as soon as a majority of people were spending because they didnt play the game properly. I already predicted that everyone in the group would vote them out because they felt Leah etc were better then them with saving money. If I were them(leah,joe,nife) I wouldve spent money daily and let others go about there days but also try to alliance with fanum and especially castillo because he wouldve actually went along with them and voted out chloe, manrika or liv and fanum wouldve persuaded ginge or specs to vote the spenders like chloe or manrika out. but because they decided to be in a team of 3(leah,nife,joe) they just became a target by the other 7 spenders, if they again spent money they would blend in and make everyone wary about spending.

The best way to make the experience beneficial for everyone is make an entertaining show, they all have a social media presence, it will make them money in the long run. Unless I just missed it, it confuses me a little as to why they didn’t edit the show differently knowing that manrika would partially win to show her in a better light. I can’t remember which of the guys said it but I remember one of them saying that she had a brain tumour and lost her dad last year, and was going to use the money to help her mum/towards her first house. Not saying that would have turned many people but it would have provided a little context as to why some of the others were rooting for her to win too, and upped the stakes just slightly. But who knows, overall still thought they did a great job for a first series and thank you for reacting!

The way some of them were talking it definitely sounded like she’d opened up about stuff, so I’m assuming it would be in the footage somewhere. I can see that point of view, and understand what the Sidemen are saying about not wanting it to be a popularity contest (public voting) but the group itself will inevitably vote based on popularity and whether they like them. I think next season should rely on challenges to get a “bottom two” and the group vote based on that. Still get the drama and dynamics but feels fairer.

Eh that’s not really a good point cuz the people “being strategic and making connections” didn’t do that on purpose to win the money, they were just vibing and ended up in the final. It’s not like Joe or Leah were against them having fun they were just against careless unnecessary spending. It all just depends on the people ur in there with. A different cast would have done things completely differently u never know

@@davidmoyes4086 The thing is, if you had a majority of people who behaved like Leah and Nife, it would have been a VERY boring show and you would have more intense competitions and betrayal. The sole mistake of the money savers was not forming a voting block, because this is a game of factions. In intense competition situations, Leah would have ended up maybe 1 or 2 rankings above what she did now, and Joe probably much higher. Also, you must remember that these contestants have the mindest of only one of them are going home with money from day 1, which means the tougher the competition, there will inevitably be many people who quit saving, and eventually vote out the savers. Unless the savers can guarantee self immunity in doing good in the challenges, the outcome would have been pretty much the same. Majority quitters and spenders voting out money gatekeepers.

The spenders/quitters/vibers would instead work harder in winning challenges and gaining immunity and then voting out the money gatekeepers the first chance they get anyway. So now the only difference is you would have 2 factions who try very hard to win challenges; one of spenders and one of savers. And the spenders would definitely outnumber the savers. Even if you had like 8/10 savers to begin with, in that isolated situation and intense competition, the idea that only one person will win will switch many to spenders from savers. It will inevitably end the same way, the last 2 will be spenders. The odd saver that makes it to Lights Out due to challenge immunities will get a target on their back then.

@@xijinpig8982 yeah I was more entertained by the spenders I’m not asking for a cast that’s entirely like Leah and nife. However no one there came in a with a strategy to win the money, no one there really cared deeply either. It was more of a competitive sense of actually winning something. I don’t think Leah or Joe should’ve done anything differently they just wanted to play the game how it’s supposed to be played and that’s nice to see and for me was needed in the group to keep everything balanced. The game show wasn’t that deep to have people make strategies together. Joe was voted out due to inconveniences and not because of how he treated the game. Leah was voted out for not being part of the “let’s fuck around and have fun” group. At the end they all had fun and on different circumstances different ppl might’ve won

Well, this isn't accurate, is it? Liv spent 39K on sweets in episode 6 alone. Add all the hot showers she's had and everything else and you get a figure much higher than £36,076. Fanum also spent 80K+ at the shop and lost his temptation so his figure is inaccurate also.
