More like 4 seasons during the summer 😂 (there was a summer two years ago it was some days colder in August then in December wintertime- but okay, probably global warming to blame)

The average may be 18C to 22C but some days are cold and some days are hot. I must say that summer still feel like summers but the winter has become an extension of the fall, followed by 3 more months of fall before we hit summer again😂.

There is a UN prison in Scheveningen, The Hague's beach town, the Yugoslavia tribunal (NATO) suspects were in there too. I think the idea is that they serve their sentence somewhere else but are detained there for trial. The video is not too bad but it's the aggrandization of the VOC again. Thanks to windmills and the invention of modern capitalism with a de facto central bank, the Dutch Republic dominated the far bigger European trade. The whole VOC was peanuts compared to that and only started to return a profit when the Dutch Golden Age was well past it's first half. The English couldn't get toe to toe in the European trade, that's why they had to go outside Europe where their gun ships mattered and the high risk high reward colonial trade didn't need to be that competitive. The Dutch went out to Asia and the Americas to take the war with Spain and Portugal for their independence to their overseas income, they paied sieges of Dutch cities with. The navies went toe to toe, with the Dutch being at a disadvantage because their shallow home waters didn't allow for the heavier gun ships. So the English started the Anglo-Dutch wars because they couldn't compete in trade. Only after the Dutch forced the British to become an ally against Louis XIV's France in 1688 and modernized their politics and economy, the British begun to become competitive in regular trade. The Dutch Republic became lacklustre without it's existence being threatened constantly and full of obscenely rich rentiers, but still it took until about 1800 before the British took over as the world's biggest trader. The cylinder ICE is actually a Dutch 17th century concept, it was supposed to run on gun powder and never got developped. Not a coincidence because they had invented the crank to turn windmills into saw mills to build ships faster and end up with more merchant ships than the rest of Europe combined.

just a tip if you come to visit the Netherlands take your time you cannot discover the entire country in 2 or 3 days there is much more to see and come in the spring or early summer then it is much more beautiful and if you go to Amsterdam and you want to visit museums, check that you have to book tickets in advance for, for example, the Van Gogh museum or the Anne Frank house +/- 6 weeks and Amsterdam is more than soft drugs and the red light zone and don't fall for the tourist traps like on Instagram and so on, it will cost you more

Due to the high humidity in the air. 25 celcius can feel more unbareble and same as 35 celcius in countries with lower humidity. Aside from that like others said summer is generally between 20 to 37degrees. And generally there is always one weekend/day in march where the tempertures also reaches above 20 celcius and throughout spring that is a returning trent.

The VOC was the largest company in the world, even compared to current standards. Secondly, international trade and the stock market was invented here. We might be small, but punch way above our belt :-) welcome to visit us of course. Finally, we are one of the european nations which prove that certain things in life are just human rights, such as education, health care, freedom of speech, which are SOCIAL concepts which have nothing to do with communism. Being social is not bad, but a way to provide a safety net for anyone within the country.

About the ICC prison: Detained persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. If convicted of crimes under the jurisdiction of the ICC, they do not serve their sentences at the ICC Detention Centre as it is not a facility made for the purposes of managing a regime of convicted prisoners; they are transferred to a prison outside of The Netherlands to serve their time, subject to an agreement between the ICC and the State of enforcement.
@FacelessJanus3 ай бұрын
In regard to the ICC, I know that at least some who got sentenced were imprisoned here in The Netherlands. I am not sure if they are sent to other countries, though I do hope so, as the criminals that get in front of this court are usually international criminals. (Mainly if I am not much mistaken war criminals.) The thing is, they need to be in a Maximum Security Prison. As the ones tried are not tried for common crimes like B&E ir stuff like that. It is usually Genocide or alike crimes.

The video is okay but as usual painting the Netherlands only in a positive light. I absolutely believe that the Netherlands is one of the best countries to live in, but also there is a lot to criticise. In videos like these some serious issues are ignored like the total disregard of nature in favour of farming, and the heavy air, water and soil pollution by the intensity of the livestock farming, pesticide use and industry, super slow pace of moving away from fossil fuels, and the utmost stupid decision to plan hundreds of thousands of new houses in regions that will be lost to the sea creeping underneath the dikes and the river floodings in the coming century. If you want an other positive vid though there is the last 15 minutes of “why the netherlands is europe's most op country” by RealLifeLore that explains why ASML is the most important company in the Netherlands currently.
