Back during the Malacca Sultanate Empire were being attacked by the Portuguese in 1511, the Malays were often mistakenly thought by only used daggers, spears,and the like to defend the city. In fact, at that time, the Malays were already using their own firearms such as rifles and cannons. Yes, it is indeed true based on Afonso de Albuquerque’s record! So far, we have been bombarded with stories of Malays who are only good at playing sharp weapons but are not touched by the greatness in terms of firearm technology. Malays have had the skills of ironwork for centuries. This is evidenced by the existence of keris. We know that the keris is more prominent and famous because it is the main weapon and the result of true Malay craftsmanship that comes from the Malay world. When I mention the Malay world, it is not just the Malays in Malaysia. It covers regional areas with Malay-Polynesian culture such as, Indonesia, Singapore, southern Thailand, the Philippines, Brunei and East Timor.

According to an article written by Wan Mohd Dasuki Wan Hasbullah and Siti Radziah Mustafa from the University of Malaya entitled "Manuscripts of Gun Science as an Ethnohistoric Source of Malay Firearms Technology." Briefly, there are 6 old rifle science manuscripts in Jawi script have been found discussing aspects of knowledge (theoretical), technology (including firearms techniques) and Malay culture.

Individual groups of firearms experts in ancient times were known as the "wise" and "shooters". They are good at adapting the technology of firearms brought by foreigners who come here. In the early 16th century, the Portuguese carried espingarda weapons. The weapon technology was adapted by the Malays and was known as "istinggar", "setinggar" or "istinggar Minangkabau" (wicker rifle in West Sumatra). Later, the Malays learned to adapt flintlock rifles from the Dutch. The Dutch call it a snaphaan and the Malays call it a "rifle". Some even call it terakul.
@muhamadamirulhafiz28523 жыл бұрын
These light firearms were used in warfare until the 19th century. They also used English-owned En-field rifles after the mid-19th century. This shows that the Malays are good at adapting and utilizing firearms technology in armed conflict.

6 Type of Firearms used in Malay World: 1- Cannon Large cannons for long-range battles were usually placed on top of city walls. The Pattani Malays were great with their large cannons and were feared by the enemy, Siam, for over 200 years. When Siam won Pattani, the large cannons of Sri Patani and Sri Nagara were confiscated and brought to Siam. Only Sri Patani reached Siam because Sri Nagara was drowned in the ocean. Now it is placed in front of the Ministry of Defense office in Bangkok, Thailand. 2- Lela Called a "swivel gun" in English this is a type of cannon that is smaller than a regular cannon made of copper and comes in a variety of sizes. It is a portable cannon that can be applied on war elephants and boats.
@muhamadamirulhafiz28523 жыл бұрын
3-Rentaka It's similar to lela but made of iron. It is portable, lightweight and smaller than lela. It is usually carved with the Malay symbol of a bamboo shoot (like a triangle). It is called Lantakas in English because of its combination of lela and rhythm. It is often used by the people of Brunei, Moro, and Sulu. Rentaka also has carvings on the body up to the adjustable nozzle. 4- Istinggar This is the ancestor of the modern shotgun where it has locks. Istinggar (musket) is also called matchlock rifle. This istinggar is very heavy and long. It has an empty cylinder chamber for gunpowder

He did mentioned in the video about how Gobek Api works and inspired those person to make the first diesel engine. Maybe both of you just need to let the videos to play until it finish one point at a time, before you guys react or giving out your opinion about it. It is just a suggestion, because if you keep on pausing the video it will disturb your focus on the important things. Or maybe you could just rewind it after giving out your opinions in between the videos.

Diesel engine uses compression ignition concept, just like the Gobek api, because the air inside the chamber gets really hot when compressed...unlike the petrol engine that must be ignited by spark plugs

What he's trying to imply is that the Gobek Api uses adiabatic compression, a priciple in thermodynamics. Same as the compression stroke of a diesel engine which ignites the fuel air mixture. But to say that it's plagiarism on part of the westerner is going a bit far. It's not uncommon for one invention to inspire the creation of another, as they are different iterations using the same principle. Of course the diesel engine is far more complicated and have other parts running on other principles like the carburator/fuel injector.

The reason why the start of the video shows 'the danger of talking about the Malay" is because some of non-malay Malaysian (The chinese and indian ethnicity) will get triggered when talking about Malay race..because in Malaysia, everything that talked about the majority race (the malay ethnic) will deemed as racist and ethnocentrism. and the other races /ethnic in Malaysia will not like this video as it talks about the achievement of Malay race since it will potray as the supremacy of the majority race...i think it is the similar happened in the US, as whenever you talked about the good side of the caucasian or white people (the majority) it will seems as racist and white supremacy mindset.. the minorities will love to see and heard about the bad side or the ugly side of the white people in US. The left wing media will also love it..it is similar happening in Malaysia..where the majority race(the malays) are always portrayed as the antagonist (bad, ugly, evil and racist) by the minorities ethnic (the chinese and indian ethnicity). thats the truth..

That is how they claim the malays trying to set up a new kind of 'governance'. Even the current prime statement stating that we should use more bahasa melayu are taken as a political issue. I'm not siding with the current pm as we are not the one that voting him, but yeah, any logical person who study history should know of how much generosity the Malay people gives to chines and indians that came here during british colonialism. Just as how much we give up on our citizenship to them, they should know deep down, Tanah Melayu and Malaysia are an Islamic state, and Bahasa Melayu will be forever be our official language. Just respect these two condition in order to secure a hamonious condition.
@zae_xa3 жыл бұрын
@@gemmywhi3711 We are not really an Islamic state but rather a secular state as in the constitution with addition of Islam as official religion. Idk why we end up like this when writing the constitution as it makes common folks who don't read those constitution confused whether Malaysia is an Islamic state or not since it has Islam as it's official religion. Otherwise I agree with you.
@gemmywhi37113 жыл бұрын
@@zae_xa That's the problem with our country, too much jaga hati sampai constitution pon tak clarify betul2. It's either Malaysia is islamic state or not. That's all. Why we need put the "islam adalah agama rasmi 'persekutuan'". Are you saying that the law only applied in govt level? Then how about the private sector? They can suka hatilah, either follow or not. That is why we hear reports saying that some boss don't even allow muslim to take breaks for prayers. Then when muslim complain, they could just give excuses like "Ehh, kami syarikat yg bebas agama, bukannya fokus satu sahaja..."..

If the non-malay Malaysian (especially the Chinese and Indian ethnicity) see this, they will go berserk and start to scream that Malay civilization is a myth and only created by the Ultra Malay nationalist. They also keep saying that there is no Malay Race and Malay language is borrowed from Chinese and tamil words. Thats the reasons, why the non-malay citizen in Malaysia dont really want to speak Malay Language (eventhough that is Malaysia National Language) , why they still want to defend the vernacular (Chinese & tamil) schools in Malaysia and why they dont want to assimilate with the Malay majority. because for them, their ancestors civilation is far more greater than the ancient Malay civilization. But they are the one who always screaming for racism, oppression and discrimination in Malaysia..how ironic is that?
