The British were fantastic in that they identified artefacts that would have been destroyed in their own countries, and took custodianship of them to preserve for future generations.

What utter bollocks. Maybe read a book. Most items in the British museum were stolen from foreign lands. Ever heard of the Empire? Funny how every country in the world the British invaded had items that needed to be "saved". And if they no longer need to be "saved" why not return them?

Hi guys, loving your London videos so far. Obviously this video was taken before the Queen sadly passed away. Just a quick note to say when the Union Jack 🇬🇧 is flying above Buckingham Palace (or previously when no flag was present) it denotes that the monarch is not in residence. Only the Royal Standard (which is now draped over the Queen's coffin) denotes that the monarch is in residence. It only flies when the monarch is at his or her official residence, and is never lowered to half mast. In summer, from July until September, the Queen is never in London and has always spent her holiday at Balmoral every year. This was where she sadly passed away last week. That delicious Scotch egg is a classic British dish, often eaten cold on picnics with the humble Melton Mowbray pork pie. It's a whole egg wrapped in pork sausagemeat then layered in breadcrumbs and cooked to a golden crisp. Go to Fortnum and Mason's food hall on Piccadilly, in the basement they have the most delectable Scotch eggs and pork pies and other amazing food. F&M have been serving the British public for over 300 years and currently supply the Royal household.

13:41 - She was in her 90’s and her Father took over when Elizabeth was 13 or 14 years old. So I expect she’s been used to lots of people outside her _house_ for longer than 50 years. Also that building is part of a quadrant, there are three more just like it, so it’s unlikely she’s in that front-facing bit most of the time anyway; perhaps somewhere a little quieter.

Westminster Abbey’s been around since the 960s. It had an up-do in the 13th century. The cloisters can be hired out and it is weird to be eating canapés and drinking sparkling wine over the tombs but on a hot summer’s day, it’s very nice. The British Museum also hires out those Egyptian rooms for business gatherings to major donors / companies. Now, that is weird having dainty sandwiches and a wine with the mummies so close.

Loving your post about my home city. Obviously this was filmed way before the queens passing. Someone explained about the flag over Buckingham Palace and what a Scotch Egg is but there are many fares to try not just fish n chips. The streets are hard going and extremely hard if you try to fit so much in one day. But I’m loving that you’ve taken to my city. Wanted to say, on Saturday night/ Sunday morning I queued 12 hours to see our late queen lying in state, my feet and legs can testify for it but what an experience that I’ll never do again or be part of U.K. history. Westminster Abbey and Westminster Palace including Houses of Parliament and Big Ben which is actually a bell in the Elizabeth Tower are world heritage sites. The hall Queen Elizabeth lay in state was Westminster Hall the oldest complex to Westminster Palaces. We’ve just said our last goodbyes to our gracious Queen very emotional day here in the U.K. but very proud of having a queen on throne for 70+ years and the Pomp and Ceremony was just awe inspiring which no other country could even come near.

Walking about London to see everything in one or two days is too tiring. Next time, stay longer and use public transportation, bus and tube - if there is no strike. After a ride on a double-deck bus, and the Tube, at least once take a ride in a black cab, just so that you can say, "been there, done that." Also, attend an evensong, Westminster, St. Paul, or both. if you ever have to ask yourself "I wonder if this is the original, in the UK, or if the original is still where it's supposed to be?" the answer is that we usually have the original in the UK. We famously just took things or bought things and shipped them to London. If memory serves me right, most of the parthenon sculptures (usually called the Elgin Marbles, after the chap who stol...legally transferred them from Greece) are original. Greece has asked for them back, and the museum has said they were legally brought to the UK and are best stored in the british museum. Some of the original statues are still in Greece, and they have a small museum there to display those.

There's no a/c because that would change the Relative Humidity and Temperature within the building which could damage the exhibits. The area where you were complaining about the lack of a/c is a replica of George III (I believe) library. It contains a lot of books and material. This is just the place that you don't want a/c in as it introduces moist air. If you get above 70% humidity you are likely to get mould growing. With all the visitors coming they introduce a lot of moisture.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED it and couldn't WAIT to get back to see part two! That theater gave me a good summing up of America vs London and why I love it so much. They served patrons wine in glass. Because it's just expected people will be decent enough to properly handle wine in a glass. No plastic cups. Americans can't be trusted to behave, but the English most definitely can.
