The United Kingdom had a bad reputation among Americans for bad food… wow, that is wrong!! We had so many delicious meals in London we compiled them into one food tour video. So don’t worry… we didn’t eat all of this in one day!!
From traditional fish & chips in a pub to amazing Indian food to dim sum in Chinatown and so much more! London was delicious!! Thank goodness we walked a ton to work off all of the calories!!

I love fish n chips. Having them in a restaurant or a pub is perfectly acceptable, but in my humble opinion, the only true way to eat them is outside, in the traditional paper wrapping, with your fingers or a tiny wooden fork, sitting on a bench facing the sea. THAT is the perfect fish n chip experience 🙂😛

@@EECCTravels In my humble opinion - and I think many others would agree - fish and chips from a real fish and chip shop, rather than a pub or restaurant, is much better. And rather than cod, try haddock instead. And yes, it's perfectly OK to add tomato ketchup.

Yes to all of the above, particularly facing the sea, on a harbour wall, under gunmetal skies, warding off stroppy sea gulls that demand chips like they are the rent.

Great reviews, London’s pretty infinite food wise…you could spend a lifetime working through its variety and quality eats! The US idea of bad food in the UK comes from GI’s feedback from during WW2 when we had food supply rationing and bland tastes….we’ve come a long way in 77yrs!

Iv had 5 life saving ops so i look like iv been stabed, slashed, shot and atacked by Voldimor. When i had my hart op i asked the consultant to mach my new scar up with my huge gastro scar, he had never been asked to do that. I thought it was funny making it look like id been opened up from neck to tummy button, he did it so i want to get a tat of a zip pull bit on it. My brother is a burns victem with 48% burns at 11months old, so scars are horribly normal and no worries. He has been told "i would normaly have to pay to see a freek like you" it was in a pub, but it was a baby walker and a full kettel, it could happen to anyone and baby walkers should be band, iv seen to many kids in the burns unit due to walkers. He had 3 years in hospital and 17 years of horrible ops, . If you read this and have a walker please, please chuck it away.

I understand the history of the reputation British food has in the US - GIs in the UK during WWII rationing etc..etc But that was 70+ years ago! The UK has had an increasingly diverse and inventive cuisine for at least 50 years, welcoming food from all over the world and giving it a unique British twist. Does the US really think the UK is stuck in the 1950s?

I think 30 years ago there might have been a justification for the negative view of certain types of food in the UK, but we went through a kind of food Revolution and things changed dramatically over time, including the tightening of the way food is produced. So the Quality and diversity improved significantly, including infusion of styles.

For the Char Sui Bao (roast pork buns) that you had, and any other buns, just use your hands. Don’t bite into them right away, they’re very hot from the steamer. When you can handle them, turn it over and peel off the paper first. Carefully break it in half to let the steam escape. With filled buns such as those the bottom is usually thinner so I usually hold them with the thinner bottom side up so when I break them open the bottom doesn’t collapse

Heading out of the city and you hit the world of country pubs. There are basically three types: 1. Fairly basic local drinking establishment- usually friendly, may serve simple foods. 2. Same as 1 but serve really good quality home cooked traditional meals. 3. Gastro pubs - some of these can be truly excellent but check reviews first!

I would say that London has 6/7 types of pubs/bars: Boozer - A city pub, which does serve food, but mostly for tourists and not good food! (found in zone 1/central London). They often play up to the historical feel and have the stained glass windows, and original features from 16th century etc. City Pub - Which is where you will find people spilling out into the streets after work, great atmosphere. Unless you work in the Square Mile, you wont come across these. Traditional - The same as number 1 in your list. Will host pubs quizes etc Gastro Pub - The feel has more of a restaurant style, with ex michelin chefs etc Village Pub - This is similar to a country gastro pub, really family friendly in a leafy/green area, with a huge and pretty beer garden and then cosy, during the winter with fire places and dogs sleeping on teh floor. Non Londoners are often surprised that London has these, as they arent in central London! Chic Bar - More of a wine bar type feel. Cocktail Bar - similar to chains such as Be@1 etc. Sports Bar - Pub or bar feel, showing sports games, with pool tables etc

The paper in a cChinese restaruaunt is edible rice paper. Englis thick cut chips are much healthier than the This 'French Fries' as you call them (in France they are called allumettes or 'matchsticks') as the thinner fries absorb much more fat than the larger chip due to the relatively larger surface area. You may be in the Indian restaurant which is still operational but the first Curries were served in London in 1773 and the first Indian restaurant run by an Indian opened in 1810. Spiced foods has been opular in te uK since spices were bought back by the Crusaders of the 10th and 11th Century.. One of Queen Victorias favourite chefs was Indian who prpared her favourite curries. I couldnever understand how we got this rediculous reputation for Bland food here in the uK.

I had fish and chips at 2 restaurants and liked it. I didn't like the mushy peas though. I was on a Dr. Who tour at the filming of your video.

Chicken Tikka Masala is at the mild end of the curry spectrum but its a great introduction to curries and has become the UK favourite dish taking over from Fish and Chips. Keep with the curries (Chinese, Indian or Thai) and work your way up the spice levels.

Go to Brighton, order fish and chips from Harry Ramsden's takeaway and then go and sit on the pier and eat it with your fingers. Ketchup is recommended. The best time is at sunset.

The American perception of British food being bad/bland comes from the war years when US servicemen were based in the UK and almost everything was rationed. This austerity and even the rationing of some foodstuffs continued into the 1950s. On a side note, my dad's idea of a curry in the 1960s was basically a stew with curry powder thrown in.

Great fun video. But you must be beyond stuffed. Never seen vinegar being put on the fish before, it's usually for the chips with salt and mushy peas with fish and chips is delicious. You should expect a wedge of a lemon to squeeze over the fish.

The best curry in London is at Euston Station - as you can get a train to Birmingham, Leicester or Glasgow and eat where the best curries are

Malt vinegar goes on the chips not on the batter because it goes soggy, it's ok to ask for tomato sauce

Your video of the fish and chips made me hungry. Yes, chips are much better than french fries but if you want ketchup just ask for it and don;t worry what people think.

Ketchup is acceptable I suppose! But malt vinegar is essential when having fish chips and peas. Come try it up north and get a tub of gravy on it..

Most tourists go to a pub for their first fish and chips but you have to go to a proper fish and chip shop to get the good stuff. Those chips will blow your mind

What we noticed in a few of the pubs we visited is that there is an upstairs and that’s where you’ll find people eating. Fish and chips wrapped in paper is just wonderful!
