Tablet is made with condensed milk, fudge with cream or clotted cream. Tablet is harder and grainier than soft fudge made with white granulated sugar, fudge with demerara sugar. Tablet is a traditional Scottish confection. To make tablet requires heating to a higher temperature than fudge, and also beating tablet is a much harder task - beat till it thickens, whereas fudge just needs beating till it loses it's shine. The less beating of fudge makes it softer. Now I have a huge craving for them.

Tablet is firm, grainy and can crumble. Fudge, ideally, is creamy and can be soft firm to firm. There are several kinds of caramel. There's the soft, runny kind, the soft runny kind that's milky looking, the hard, creamy kind and the hard, brittle kind. Then, there's toffee, which is firm and creamy. All of them can have other flavours, eg rum n' raisin fudge or treacle toffee. A lot of companies sell sweets called fudge, but if it's grainy, it's more like tablet. The UK has a million different, fantastic sweets - everything from Midget Gems, which are little jewel coloured, fruit flavoured, gummy sweets to Soor Plooms (Scots for Sour Plums), which have a sour, tangy taste . You wouldn't eat a whole bag of them. Cadbury's is made in Poland now, I think, and not that great - it's gone a bit plasticky and tasteless. There are a lot of smaller companies making much better quality chocolate in the UK (or, at least, there were) .

In many countries in Europe it has to have 50% cocoa solids, otherwise it can only be sold as confectionery, but not chocolate.
@SaifullahRaes3 жыл бұрын
@@TheMagicGeekdom the cocoa butter percentage is one of the reasons for UK chocolates tasting better in many people's opinions. Ironically it meant that the Anglo-American company Mars had to increase the percentage in their product otherwise they would be labelled chocolate flavour, putting them at a disadvantage to their competitors. Many family and friends visiting the UK from the US often comment on the taste of US stuff in the UK, including fast food!

The problem there is that he said he doesn't like coconut, so giving him a bar covered in toasted coconut is probably not a good idea. But it could be fun seeing it, followed by a Bounty or a Lee's Macaroon bar! 🤣🤣🤣
@sukiwoo28153 жыл бұрын
I don't know the name of the American company who bought out Cadbury's but almost immediately they tried to reduce the amount of milk in the chocolate ( which is what makes its so good!) and we Brits boycotted it as it was pretty awful compared to what we've been used to. So they realised they had to go back to original recipe. that was when they started to put some weird fillings in ( to save money) some of which are ok. I personally will only eat Cadburys best there is, better than all the Belgium chocolate I think.

Hi you two! Thanking you for your very entertaining videos! Love watching you trying British sweets & chocolate & snacks. Best wishes to you from me in Kirkcaldy, Fife Scotland. IF you ever visit Scotland you MUST try a fudge doughnut made by the famous bakery Fisher & Donaldson. They supply the Queen with produce. Also try their Coffee Towers - both products are heavenly!

But Scots are Brits... literally!! Scotland is part of the island known as Great Britain. .... from a Brit! x👍
@erinrudge70944 жыл бұрын
OK, so the fudge situation is as follows: Scottish tablet is hardest and quite brittle in the sense that it's very grainy in texture and will crumble the most. English classic fudge is a bit like tablet but a creamier texture(the texture depends on how long its mixed to create crystalization in the cooking process). Classic English fudge recipes don't use condensed milk but most modern and American ones do hence a creamier textures you're used to.

British fudge is pretty much the same as American fudge. However, when most Americans try British fudge they try the Cadbury bar which is very odd and not really fudge. I believe this is where the confusion starts. The fudge you are eating is harder than usual because it is the prepacked kind that is wrapped and bagged. If you buy fudge that is cut to order in a sweet shop in the UK then it is much softer and comes in literally hundreds of flavours. Certain regions of England are well known for their fudge. Scottish tablet is different. It has a crumbly texture and is made with slightly different ingredients. I don't enjoy it as much as fudge.

You need to try local markets, or Christmas markets, the fudge there is amazing, and the huge amount of flavours is fantastic, personally my favourite are Strawberries and cream, by the way, Tunnocks, although Scottish are still British, it's like saying Cadburys is English because it's made in England, it's still very much British.

For Chocolate to be called Chocolate in the UK it has to have no less that 20% cocoa solids, its normally 23%. I have read that in the US you only need 10% of cocoa solids to be called Chocolate and Hershey use about 11% that is why US chocolate taste cheap

What a beautiful couple, I'm from the Uk and I can't recommend Cadbury's full stop. I have not eaten this rubbish for over 30 years. The Windsor Food Cartel owns it AKA British Royal Family. You may want to research this cartel to see what they are really doing to the food. However, I would recommend Green & blacks this does actually have some chocolate in and Lindt /Lindor, especially the one in red wrappers.
@fraxinus_ash3 жыл бұрын
Kraft foods (Mondelez international) own Cadbury's actually, and Green and Blacks were bought by Cadbury so they're both the same company. Lindt is Swiss.
