The best "mexican" brand candies are from "De la Rosa" and "Coronado", but the very best candies come from family owned stores or in the municipal markets, with no branded packs (usually they have their own recipes). Also, amaranto bars are called "Alegrias" and depending on the place is their recipe, personally I don't knew the chocolate ones, but the mixed with raisins and peanuts. Buying in a supermarket or in an oxxo doesn't get you the best, just the more commons (except Ricaleta, that one's awesome)

Tamarinds grow typically in South America and the Caribbean definitely can and is grown is south US it’s basically pods that fall off all around the tree they grow everywhere all over the sides of the roads you can pick tamarind pods on bike rides they compare them to be as sour as lemons!
