A look at Poland and the U.S. infrastructure will shock you in disbelief and wonder how comes New City Subway got so bad? In this video, I show you the major difference between Warsaw Metro System in Poland compares to The New York Subway System.
This episode will leave every American jealous of the amazing infrastructure work in Poland and not compare it to the stunning infrastructure in China which is by far the most advanced in the work right now.

It's actually a shame that Americans don't seem to care and look after their historical subway system. It's such a treasure to be able to use something that is almost a 120-years old and still working. It's always better to care and mantain than spend tons of money to rebuild from the scratches. I guess , in Poland we get it due to our historical experience.

The metro in Warsaw is already 41 km long. underground and growing. And the plans until 2050 are for 5 lines with a length of 113 km. Warsaw also has a very extensive tram system (about 150 km), which is also dynamically expanding. There is also a city commuter train. If you count the rail transport, it would be 300 - 400 km. In addition, a very extensive bus network.

@@annakon8423 Warsaw's transport system covers about 4 million people (the city itself plus the so-called metropolitan area). This is not a small thing, in addition, the area of Warsaw is really large - as far as just the city area is concerned, it is much more extensive than, for example, Paris, and to this you need to add all the surrounding towns in the metropolitan area (total is roughly the area of London). Besides, Poland is not a small country compared to France or the UK. 38 million native Poles ((living in Poland, plus 2 million emigrating, in a large part temporary) plus 4 million immigrants (plus an additional 1.5 million refugees from Ukraine from 2022 - of whom 200,000 have settled in Warsaw). This is the scale of Spain. Oh, Warsaw is also inhabited by people from all over the world, although in fact white people (especially Poles) predominate, nevertheless you will meet many Indians, Filipinos, Vietnamese, Chinese, inhabitants of the Caucasus, many Americans, Brits, Italians, Belarusians, Ukrainians and people from South America. I don't know what school you graduated from, but the standard of education must have been very low.

And most of them don't care and they don't care about it being clean around. people who don't have any sense of cleanliness. I am friom Poland, used to live in Toronto, Canada and now in Switzerland. Toronto Transit System (TTC) was rewarded as the best in North America. It is below average for Europe, but when compared to a region. I just can't express how bad public transit infrastructure is in the US. Switzerland is making every country jealous, but ... OMG I just can't believe those shirts for a subway in NYC. In Warsaw ppl wore whatever they want. Unfortunately, Poland is getting more and more car centric but it is still good.

@@Erintii Actually in Poland there is an infrastructural problem - the neighbourhoods (villages and small towns) are disconnected from the big cities. People often live in neighbourhood villages because cities are polluted, crowded and occupied by companies and these small villages and towns have such sickening connections to big cities people work in so they prefer to use a car instead of a bus. Let's assume you live in a small village 15 minutes far from the city centre (by car) and start your job at 7 a.m. There's a high chance that to arrive to your job you would need to take the bus at 6 a.m. and then wait 20 or 30 minutes until your job starts. If you took a later bus, you would get late. Would you rather get there by car in 15 minutes or by bus which would take 30 or 40 minutes long and then wait the next 20? And it's not a nearly impossible scenario because that's literally my mother's situation. Either wake up at 5 a.m. and take the bus at 6 a.m. just to start your job at 7 a.m. or wake up an hour later and take 15 minutes ride by car.
@recordofragnarokisapurehyp6660
@recordofragnarokisapurehyp6660 Жыл бұрын
@@Erintii nobody feels superior that they have a car in Poland 😂😂😂 Your words don't even make sense, these are often the citizens of bigger cities who feel superior to the ones living in small villages. If you lived here, you would know that the highest number of cars are owned by Poles living in villages and the bigger the city, the less cars an average Pole has. It's due to low urbanisation (only about 60% if I remember correctly) and bad communication between small towns and villages or neighbourhood villages next to big cities. Today cars (which are usually bought second-hand) are widely available good in Poland.
@Erintii
@Erintii Жыл бұрын
@@recordofragnarokisapurehyp6660 I agree it's different between cities and villages everywhere in every country. Yes, Poland is unfortunately taking path to car dependence and there are idiots who in Warsaw have two cars per family even if transit is good. But they have stupid mentality of buses are for losers. Still, I will argue in general in Poland it is better than in the US but for how long I don't know. In Poland there are still plenty of car independent places but rural areas are not dense enough for public transit. Still, Polish cities like Warsaw or Poznan are not surrounded by R1 zones, useless suburbs. So it's still better, even though wrong direction was chosen in 1990s by destroying local train and bus lines.

You can't really compare Warsaw underground to any other much bigger and with much more lines. Also Warsaw underground's first line has been finished in 1995 and second (and last) in 2015 so compared to other big cities is a toddler. It's like comparing old 20yo volvo to 3yo mercedes. Another point here amount of people going throught every of those big cities is incomparable to Warsaw underground. But (well i don't know now because i don't live in Warsaw for like 15 yrs but it was) there is one thing witch make Warsaw underground cleaner than ie. London, witch is people not throwing shit under their feets(or at least not so much). When i first went' to london i thought Warsaw is dirtiest city in the worl, untill i get there and changed my mind.

It takes decades even to renovate some metro stations because of budget, bureaucracy, and flow of people (you can’t really close completely the stations so you can only work at night which means higher salaries paid as well.) I agree, polish subway it’s very new now compared to even Romania or Bulgaria ones. The comparison is not fair. While I agree that US had not even maintained them properly in couple decades (let’s not forget money in US they been spent on foreign wars, wars that by the way they been supported by Poland as well as NATO allies) but they should at least try to clean them. But this is something you see more and more in Western Europe as well. The fact is that the western idea of corrupt capitalism has reach a far point. From now on things are collapsing slowly there until a better system is put in place. Immigration, foreign wars, stealing of resources from poor countries and mismanaged the money from there usually lead to corruption and collapse of empires no matter how much they say otherwise. Rome didn’t collapse because of some external adversaries.

Dude, NYC subway is over a 100 years old and WWA subway is 30 years old (the original 10 stations of the 1st line). Of course new stations are nicer than old stations! NYCs 7 line extension and 2nd ave line has nice stations too. You also showed a 3 day pass for WWA subway at 57pln, you get a 7 day unlimited metrocard for $32 in NYC and average monthly earnings are pretty similar 1:1. Of course I'm not disputing that the MTA is doing way too little to fix issues but they can't simply shut off whole tunnels, there'd be riots 🤣 Oh, and people by all means fight on the Polish subway too sometimes, it's not like people fight on NYC trains all the time, I can't remember the last time I witnessed a fight and when it does happen it's the same kind of pathological element that fights everywhere else in the world.

I sadly see the Poles applying the attitude that comes with globalisation more and more meaning that it's quite often I see people avoiding paying for their tickets and trashing pulblic spaces

I’ve been using NYC subway system for 18 years. You can’t compare it to Warsaw’s system. It’s ridiculous! Yes, you are right that it is not clean place, but quite safe. It’s getting less safe after pandemic because of BLM/ police clashes. BLM wanted to reduce money for police and Police doesn’t work so good like before. Anyway, the metro system works 24/7 quite well. I don’t need a car and I’m faster in subways than in the car on most routes I frequently use. Don’t forget that NYC has more than 1100 km and ~ 470 stations. It’s not possible to keep them all in great shape if system works 24/7 and around 6 million people use it every day.
@Crimerenegade

Somehow Barcelona does not have NY problem while having 189 stations, and metro system that started operation in 1924. Somehow Tokio having 285 stations does not have this problem...If You plan correctly you could upkeep and maintain all the stations properly. Also both of mentioned cities don't have such massive issues with sexual assaults and other crimes. Also Yeah Warsaw metro has 40 stations for a City of 1,8 milion while NY has 470 for almost 9 million inhabitants... so proportionally both cities are very closer to each other than You think.
@Paintedbird7600
@Paintedbird7600 Жыл бұрын
@@Crimerenegade wow, so Warsaw has around 22 stations per million and NYC 52. Yeah, it’s quite similar 😂😂😂. Don’t forget than 2/3 of NYC habitants use it every day and they are from all the world. Tokyo is different story. Better people, better culture. They don’t have such mix of different cultures in their city. Anyway, the main issue to keep it in good shape is keeping it open 24/7 and labor unions which control MTA. It’s very, very costly to do anything in the system. The Metro system in NYC is enormous and very, very old. I don’t think it can be improved quickly without changing the corrupt system in NYC.
@Paintedbird7600
@Paintedbird7600 Жыл бұрын
@@Crimerenegade one more thing, are you sure Tokyo doesn’t have sexual assaults and crimes in their subway system? Check the topic again. It’s very funny you don’t know about that. They have clean subway and streets and low level of common crimes, but the sexual assaults in crowded places are often more frequent than in the rest of the world. Maybe they can compete with India in the same matter.

@@Paintedbird7600 Warsaw also has SKM and tram that are also part of the transportation (which NY don't have, Trams that is, But You can argue that a lot of NY metro is also above ground similar to SKM ) system so the station disproportion is not 2:1, Also safety index for NY is 53.17 and for Tokyo 75.77... so yeah ....

Warsaw has also SKM (basically metro on surface) and extensive network of tram system (much more tram stations than NY has metro stations), not counting bus network that surpasses NY by miles. You know, buses run to every part of the city through whole night, not only by day. Basically every major Europen city surpasses NY. Not just Warsaw. And NY has the best public transport network in USA. That's really scary.

I think its important to notice that poland doesnt really have metro systems, we have one and I think it was excercise in vanity just to have A metro system like other big cities in the world. Most other large cities use tram systems instead alongside wide net of busese and sometimes larger aglomerations ( like tricity in the north) have metro-like transportation systems that use regular on ground train tracks, it still does the same job

@@TheMadYetti most of tram lines where I live have spearate part of the road for themselves so they aren't stuck in trafic and solutions using regular tracks already have trians going on them pretty often and through the middle of the city anyways but all that may be because cities in poland are relatively small, even with greater areas included and not that densely populated

Are you reducing Americas to only one country, the USA? Many Americans aren't jealous. There is a nice metro system in Buenos Aires, Argentyna. There are dedicated lines for express busses on highway and Metro system build above ground (for seismic reasons ) in Lima, Peru. There is a big metro system in the capital of Mexico (with dedicated wagons for women only) and they have "Suburbano" trains connecting small cities near the capital. And don't forget the highest (about 5000m over see level) train line "Ferrocarril Central Transandino" in Peru, build in 1870-1874, under leadership by Polish Engineer Ernest Malinowski (that is until Chinese build their line in 1980's). All that is in Americas. Ps. Have you meditation, that Warsaw, Poland has two metro lines? That's enough to use plural :)

@@krzystaki5793You can’t be serious! While I agree that US had not even maintained them properly in couple decades (money in US they been spent on foreign wars, wars that by the way they been supported by Poland as well as NATO allies) so they should at least clean them. But this something you see more and more in Western Europe as well. The fact is that the western idea of corrupt capitalism has reach a far point. From now on things are collapsing slowly until a better system is put in place. Immigration, foreign wars, stealing of resources from poor countries usually lead to corruption and collapse of empires no matter how much they say otherwise. Rome didn’t collapse because of some external adversaries.
