Guys the Oil Catch and Intercooler are musts!!!! There are TSBs out there that include issues fixed by these. You can't use engine or fuel injector cleaners because of the turbo fans, so you need that Oil Catch. That build-up will flake off the intake valves and damage the turbo blade if you use cleaner - there's no approved way by Ford to clean that grime. The intercooler with a drain plug will save you from those misfires in humid conditions. Otherwise, you'll have to drill a hole in your factory intercooler to drain it. I wish KZbin's search algorithm showed me this guide when I first bought my 2015 F150 with the 3.5L Ecoboost. Instead, I got people suggesting lift kits... Not anything functional.

I think ecoboost got a bad rap from a couple of their problem engines like the 2.0. I've got an 15 3.5 lariat that I absolutely love. Tow regularly and it's torque is ridiculous. About 100k so far but hope to have it for a long time to come. Oil changes every 5k or less depending on how much I tow. I think the engines got a bad reputation from non maintenance. They definitely aren't as forgiving as older na motors when it comes to neglecting maintenance.

Where exhaust is concerned, you just need something that will move exhaust away from the turbocharger faster or in greater quantities. That's where you get performance from an ecoboost, otherwise it's just noise, and there's nothing wrong with that. I have an Eco-Boost, my third turbocharged car. The exhaust that comes with it isn't exactly bad, but a little more performance is always there to be milked.

Do these mods improve efficiency as well? I'm not chasing big power gain, mainly more fuel efficiency and extending the lifespan of my truck. Mine is a 2019 3.5 EB by the way, If these mods makes more power but retain the same fuel efficiency that's still a positive. I know to get the most out of these mods I'll probably will need to have it tuned and I plan to do so.

I don't want to be negative and I understand the displacement difference, but I had a 2003 Lightning, when stock, made slightly better dyno numbers than the 3.5 tuned. 363whp and 430lbs. I am currently in the market for a 2021 and will be buying the 3.5 Hybrid with the 7.2kW. I am curious if there are mods for those...perhaps software that will allow overvolting the electric assist. Have you guys tested nitrous kits? Auxiliary fuel tanks for E85 and tunes? Where are the first weak links in the strength of the driveline? Thanks guys.

So apparently. The original ecoboost had single injection engines which was causing some of the issues with oil and carbon build up (not creating enough heat to burn them off) as of 2019 Ford is saying that they solved this known issue with dual injection, allowing for more control and higher temps.

These SPECIFIC parts will not work with the new Ford Ranger since these are made specifically for the 3.5L Ecoboost on 2015+ F150s. But - you can easily take this same parts list and find equivalents that fit the Ranger! Does my 2020 3.5L EB need a catch can? I only have 11k miles on it. That tuner and CAI seems tempting. Where can I buy a Roush CAI intake for my truck? I also need to find someone that has a Forscan as I want to change some options

I've used CRC Valve Intake spray. What with all the possible damages people say, it worked great for me. It is said use it before every oil change. My RPM on idle is around 1k to 1.2k, but after the first Cleanse, it's been .5 rpm to .7 rpm. Less strain on the engine. Cleans your valves out and rids gunk from your turbos as well.

What happened to that Mishi intercooler being "around $800"... Now they are being sold for $970...may as well now look elsewhere since its in the realm now of a lot of others that, sure, involve more work, but is a better product overall

Does the 2018+ f150 EcoBoost need a oil catch can separator with direct and port injection?
@FloridaCoastalGuy
@FloridaCoastalGuy 4 жыл бұрын
No, the 2018 2nd generation 2.7 and 3.5 both have Direct fuel injection and Port fuel injection with computer programming; the direct injectors spraying only on cold startup and under hard acceleration. The 2nd generation engines does not need a oil catch can separator.
@bigb3337
@bigb3337 4 жыл бұрын
The port injection will help with the valves from caking somewhat, but I still wouldn't want oil going in my intake.

I have a 2017 f150 with the 3.5 ecoboost and I’m wondering if the oil separator, cold air intake or programmer would affect the vehicles warranty and if so which one or all of them ?

It all sounds great, but what about durability and reliability? Will a 2.7 ecoboost with these mods and tune be a dependable truck long term? I'm getting ready to spend damn near 50k on a new F-150 and making sure it lasts for 250,000 miles is my top priority.

@@betterdeadthanred839 My thought exactly. I actually just ordered my truck a few weeks ago, XLT Sport 4x4 Supercab 2.7 eco. I decided to give Ford another year to work the kinks out of the new F150 design. Honestly, the 2.7 with 3.55 gears that I test drove had more than enough power for me... and I ordered mine with the 3.73 gears (payload package) so it'll be even quicker. Cant wait to finally get it!

@@dlg5485 I have 2015 3.5 Ecoboost, Sport XLT Supercab, 4WD with 6.5 bed. So far it has been great truck, 75K miles with zero issues. I just did tune up, changed transmission fluid and rear diff fluid. Only mods I have is leveling kit with some 33's. I change oil every 3.5K miles and hopefully I get 250K miles out of it.

@@betterdeadthanred839 Same exact truck 4 months ago and LOVE it ! 120,000 thousand miles, one owner and well taken care of. Had NEW Nitto' wrangler tires (600 $ apiece) and a small lift kit. Paid 23,500 because the 4 inch touch screen was blown out at purchase so i just installed the 8 inch conversion screen myself. Enjoy your truck !!

Justin, is their much difference between the SCT X4 tuner that you mentioned and the Bully Dog BDX tuner? Also, I noticed SCT has a BDX tuner as well. I have a AFE cold air intake, and want to run a 93 Octane tune. I am in a toss up and don't know which is a better product or which give my truck the best acceleration gains. -Thank you!
