Great process and beautiful result! I really love the idea of the initial careful drawing with architectural lines and shapes, then the introduction of some chaos and textures that give a more organic feel to the painting. Theses splashes and stains match really well the 'spirit' of New York, a city that has a lot of personality! 🚕

I just started using paynes gray to sketch in my values. So far, I am happy with the 2 paintings I've done and watching this demonstration tells me I am on the right path. I am not seeing all your splashing as a positive, especially at the end of your painting. But I am learning and probably will understand better as I progress in my skills. Thank you for a very informative demonstration. You are a good teacher.

So interesting to watch. But hard to see you splatter paint on top of all your first work. Gorgeous at the end. Thank-you

Are you talking to a live audience? I see shots where you're looking out somewhere and not at the camera.

What is the point of photographically copying reality? Especially of copieng photos of NY? It's like painting the insides of a sewing machine - the same aesthetic. Shouldn't the painter interpret what he sees?
