Biggest mistake you can make is not TELLING your beneficiaries what you did! It's so very painful to have someone die and then to find out they did not do what you were always told they were doing. I have been dealing with this as an only child who was blindsided by the terms of a revocable trust which were NOTHING like what I had always been told would happen. For clarity, I have been married for more than three decades to the same spouse, I have no poor habits such as substance abuse or gambling, and I have no special needs. PLEASE be honest with your beneficiaries. At least write a letter explaining what you did if you can't face them. Otherwise, you leave your grieving survivors to question everything about your relationship and themselves. It's truly an awful place to be.

It's been 5yrs. Now,and i still dont have a clue as to where 😂my inheritance went .seems like people dont mind taking advantage of ,instead of possibly trying to help those of us who just aren't very educated in these matters. Go figure?

Happy birthday! Very helpful information, thank you! I have a question: if I leave my stock account to my children in living trust. Are stocks treated the same as real estate with a step up base?

This old man says the Estate Planners need to a crime free inheritance Transfer Plan that avoids the mistakes costing 25% to 50% in litigation. You are by far the most pragmatic Estate Planner out there, but we need you to advance your career to a NICER approved Administration Lawyer earning 850% more than Estate Planner. Adding 100 times more value in an administration 100 times better than easy to forge estate plans, with a NICER Latin Law Permission Trust administration, Recorded, Monitored, Arbitered, Validated, and Certified in a 33-year reform to interdict Estate Plan forgers, Trust counterfeiters, and financial elder abusing title deed thieves.
