Fort Davis National Historic Site is one of the best surviving examples of an Indian Wars' frontier military post in the Southwest. From 1854 to 1891, Fort Davis was strategically located to protect emigrants, mail coaches and freight wagons on the Trans-Pecos portion of the San Antonio-El Paso Road and on the Chihuahua Trail (NPS Website).

Cute start!!! Nice editing of a historic place! That's quite a hike! Just a hiker stop on one of the first through hikes. HA! It was a busy place! Dinner from the Employee of the Month! Ice Cream!!!!! Great one! Thanks!

hahahaha, that beginning is gold! Quick pit stop and on we go! Nice jersey by the way, had us laughing the whole time! Great job on highlighting the area, the officer is super informative. Love how you combine the info with the shots. Keep it up!

Appreciate the thoughtful comments. Yeah, that jersey was what we wore back on the college football team (Illinois State) in the mid-80's. I still love it, my three older daughters give me a hard time! Enjoy your weekend!

What a neat place! Love how much conservation has been put into it and that it is hands on. Looks like you had a great time there. This ice cream looked gooooood! 😊 And great editing of the ranger's comments over the places you saw, really smooth to watch. Almost documentary like. Really enjoyed it!

Yes, some neat stuff out there than many people seem to overlook (which is nice because it does keep the crowds down). Hope to get Carlsbad and White Sands up soon - two more cool sites also in that area. Have a great weekend!

That meal was the best we could do! And yes, the rock formations in the background were impressive - yet I think most focus on the fort and miss them!

This was a cool fort to give us a history tour of. I like how you were going back-and-forth cutting between the Ranger talking and the scenery. It look like there were some cool looking rock pinnacles surrounding the fort. Another cool video my friend. By the way it looks like your channel, happy trails hiking, touring taste buds, and beer belly travelers are going to hit 1000 soon. Excited for everybody :-)

Randy, ha ha - funny tag on the beginning with Shane (he is obviously a cooperative actor - BTW, who directed that sequence you or Julie?). What a great day for Shane with Mom & Dad on a tour of Texas old west history. Nice KZbin cameo of Jeanne, "employee of the month" (these are the special touches that make your videos so entertaining). ICE CREAM or RATTLESNAKES? Oh, yes, I agree with Shane. THANKS FOR TEH ICE CREAM! . . . Mike

Great video!! Very informative! I thoroughly enjoyed watching! That road would be a great road to walk with a metal detector! Who knows what people were dropping and losing with all the years that road was in use. Great edit Randy! I've been looking forward to Thursday now. I was at work today thinking" OK..Its Thursday, Randy will have a new video up!" Cool stop that was actually recommended to me while in Alpine, just didn't have time to see it.The surrounding mountains almost looks like Chiracahua.Man, you guys and the ice cream! Your trip west is getting really close. I plan on calling you soon to touch base and give you some more details. Talk to you soon.
