I resisted buying an air fryer for years, thinking it was just another fad. I saw that it was not going away, instead there were even more recipes being published. I finally bought a small Cosari air fryer. I now use it almost daily! For a single person like me, it works out well, I can have things cooked and eaten almost in the time it takes my big oven to preheat. There is a learning curve, but it is not that steep, so if you have been on the fence, I say get an air fryer!

Why yes, this recipe segment did end rather abruptly. The last 45 seconds: Lan: And the nice balanced heat. It kind of hits you up front and then it mellows, but it's warm. Bridget: You were saying right - the crunch of the lettuce and the crunch of the chicken together? L: Yeah, it's great. B: Here comes the heat - little bit of heat L: Mm-hmm B: Loving it. Well - I'm sold! Thanks, Lan! L: You're welcome! B: If you'd like to make crunchy and spicy chicken sandwiches straight out of the air fryer, first toast panko for a crisp texture, add a little four to the egg mixture to help with binding and add in the heat at every step. So from America's Test Kitchen, right out of the air fryer it's spicy fried-chicken sandwiches. L: Who are you calling an air fryer? B: Air fryer B: : Air fryer B: I've been called worse.

Thank you for explaining a little better why air fryers are so good at what they did. I've been calling them little convection ovens but did not realized that one of the mechanisms by which they work was by pulling moisture away. I guess since convection is used in steam ovens that air fryers would use the humidity.

This was sooo good!! I don't like spicy, so I just substituted Chick fil A sauce for the hot sauce and followed the rest of the recipe as written. My chicken cooked a minute or two faster, but no worries because I checked it early. It was wonderfully browned with a nice crunch yet tender and juicy inside. Finally found a good air fryer recipe - thanks so much!!

Just tried this recipe since it seemed so easy. I used boneless, skinless chicken thighs and reduced the air fryer temp to 375 to slow the browning and cook the thighs to a higher temp. Don't do like Lan said and set the air fryer to the shortest time. Set it to the longest time and just check it early. So much easier than having to restart the thing with a new time & temp. I have that same air fryer, and pretty much everything I cook in it goes in with it set to 15 mins at 400. I almost never bother with preheating. But I do check the food and toss/rotate/flip as needed and pull it when done.
@waymor2460Ай бұрын
Looked like the browning on the cutlets was a little uneven. Would a little spray oil before cooking help? I’m still on the fence on getting an air fryer. I have only so much cabinet and counter space. Love Lan’s videos.

I wish there were some recipes producing crispy exteriors that don’t require flour or bread - for those 10’s of thousands of us who diligently follow the health promoting lowest carb or carnivore diets. Like using crushed pork rinds, without chemical additives. I’ve made my own and had a little success making good things with them, but you folks could provide some tremendous guidance for the best flavor and techniques. TIA!
@majestic6303Ай бұрын
Pork has lot of fat and is not good for you. It’s forbidden to eat it for a reason.
@sociopathmercenaryАй бұрын
Most recipes, you can just swap out the ground up pork rinds for panko and almond flour for regular flour. I use cream or half and half instead of milk.

I'm going to try this low carb style. Almond flour instead of the regular flour in the batter and ground up pork rinds instead of panko. I'll miss the bun but it should still be delicious.
@nancycy9039Ай бұрын
Almond flour doesn’t thicken or bind liquids, though, does it?
@sociopathmercenaryАй бұрын
@@nancycy9039 Almond flour won't thicken sauces but I've used it successfully when breading. I might get a better result by just using the pork rinds but perhaps an experiment is an order. 👍🏼

You don't need to mix the oil with the breadcrumbs. Just give them a spray before you close the drawer. Also. Instead of panko, try corn flakes. Trust me on this.
