I would love a review of electric kettles! They’re pretty uncommon in the US but they have so much utility. They’re generally safer than other means of boiling water, you can leave them unattended, and they’re faster and more efficient.
@FindMeOnABeachКүн бұрын
I LOVE my Cosori electric kettle!! I make my coffee every day with an Aeropress, so I use it every day. And then I have hot tea at night. I also use it for cooking. It's AMAZING!
@szurketaltos2693Күн бұрын
Less common in the US because of 120V, which is only a bit faster than a gas burner (agree that they are much safer). A 240V induction burner will be much faster than a 120V kettle, but usually does not have the fine temperature control that high end kettles have for tea and coffee.
@jfess1911Күн бұрын
@@szurketaltos2693 It depends on you stove. My Krupps kettle is almost twice as fast as the gas burner. When I am in a hurry, I put 1/3 of the water on the stove and 2/3 in the kettle. I chose a double-walled one to keep the water hot for a while after boiling.
@szurketaltos2693Күн бұрын
@@jfess1911 fair enough, my current gas stove is pretty bad but I try not to use it due to a lack of exhaust. Induction is even faster, even if it's just a 120V burner plug-in btw. Probably another 10-20% faster than normal electric kettles of same voltage.

So Alton Brown is famous for saying, and Id agree that he hates a monotasker. The one exception I make is if that monotasker does LEGENDARY work or efficiency with the task it is assigned. You guys should pick 5 niche monotaskers that people are or have been hype about and see if these one hit wonders are worth the time and the cash.

It sounds oddly specific, but I'd love to see a potato masher review. I don't have room for a ricer or tami, so just a handheld masher has to do. But there are so many choices now, the old fashioned ones, foldable ones, hand held like a pastry cutter... what's really the best for cooks who can't have an expansive kitchen? Your "capsule kitchen" video was one of my favorites, and I'd LOVE more like that!

I think you could test some fermentation gear, since you mentioned fermentation on the channel before. From glasses (I had many that were unable to handle temperature differences well and just burst), lids (anyone likes rust in their fermented goods?) to disinfection tools (oven works, but with the glasses issue and also high power consumption, I would like to have another option). There's a lot of stuff to test and clarify, what works well. PS: I love my Ankarsrum. Milling the grains and using the flour for my breads and baguettes is a delight. If anyone ever wants to bake a lot of dough at once or regularly, the Ankarsrum is highly recommended. As mentioned in the short review by ATK, it takes time and practice to get used to it. Just read the manual carefully to know what to use the different accessories for.

"Leftover champagne has never happened to me, but I heard that it happens" :') YES! So relatable. Still a great gift for lovers of sparkling wines though! I was gifted a champagne saver years ago and the person joked that I may never need it because when do I ever not finish a bottle? At our house, it's usually the second bottle that we need the saver for. Or if I am the only one drinking bubbly and my partner is enjoying craft beer, then I use the saver between pouring glasses throughout the evening.

I would love a "Basic Kitchen Tools" multi-video short series: You wouldn't gift a top-of-the-line kitchen gear set to your irresponsible college kid who loses or breaks everything, but you still would like to gift him/her stuff that wouldn't fall apart and injure him/her first use; so that's one vid. Then you have wedding presents for offspring of good cooks who are themselves good, careful cooks, and are leaving Mom's kitchen (and her tools) behind - 2nd vid. Bachelor/ette new kitchen setup for average responsible young adult who isn't into cooking but needs to feed self -3rd video. And hey, a set of Corningware plates & cups (and some cutlery) aren't a bad idea, as long as you know their taste in patterns. I'm personally not above thrift-store finds for that kid who won't care if they break a mug, or destroy a pan.

I would LOVE a digital membership! I have your 2020 cookbook and gifted a copy to each of my daughters, but now there's so many great new recipes I want to try. Anyway, I don't think I've ever seen ATK review these items before, but I need to redo my worn out kitchen. My budget is tight, but I would love advice from a trustworthy source - like ATK - on either (or both) of two important items, with a myriad of features and variables, that are found in every kitchen. You could watch 10,000 youtube videos or home improvement tv shows and get 10,000 different opinions: (1) Kitchen cabinets - judged not by beauty, but by durability, economy, capacity, ease of use and cleaning. What materials give the most bang for the buck? What features are helpful or not? For instance, I have a corner cabinet between my sink & stove with a hinged door, and now that I'm older, I'm not as flexible for pulling out stuff in the back corner or my heavy Dutch oven. And kneeling to clean inside kills my knees. Drawers or lazy Susan, or something else? (2) Kitchen flooring - same questions as with the cabinets-there's too many choices. Ceramic, laminate, wood, linoleum, vinyl, etc. It would b fun watching you stomp or jump up and down on it testing for comfort and durability, dropping cast iron skillets and ceramic mugs to check for ability to resist breaking the flooring and/or the mugs, spilling stuff to check ease of cleanup or staining, putting samples in high-traffic areas to check for wear, or at work stations to check for comfort when standing for long periods. Options are endless. Thank you ATK, I'm a big fan!

At the low end, a Microplane Rasp Zester/ Grater is a must have. At the higher end, the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro is nice. It includes an optional convection fan for baking/roasting. I just bought a Emil Henry Modern Classics Square Baker to use in that toaster oven. EH claims that it is so resistant to thermal shock that "our ceramics allow our products to be taken directly from the freezer to the hot oven (+250°C/500°F)." It's still made in France. I don't have a mandolin, but if I was going to buy one, I would also buy a "butcher's glove".

Would love to hear the pros and cons of various comparable bento boxes available in the market (with most of us heading back to in-person offices and wanting to take a variety of food and snacks in one handy box but keep it separate without using plastic). Please review home-use but store-grade espresso drinks making machines (like breville vs jura!). They have built in bean grinders and can make various coffee drinks almost better than our neighborhood coffee shop. Third request - epergnes!!! I really want to get one and saw a fun snack version in Sam’s club during the holidays. With space being an issue and vegans not wanting food to be served on the same board as cheese, I feel like a vertical solution would work wonders and the individual bowls/cups keep food completely separate. But I want to find something elegant without being ostentatious as the vintage ones. Thank you for the wonderful work you guys do behind the scenes!!
