Bee was already doing the live band, high energy, short skirts/shorts, legs on full display, strutting and dancing in heels, hairography, squad of sexy all female background dancers, basically "young Tina Turner" inspired performances, loooong before Amerie. Bee even featured a special appearance from the famous female drummer Shelia E. in her band back in her 2002 performance in Leno, an idea Amerie later "stole" in THAT 2005 performance.

Please, she is not underrated, any of her songs that were exposed were highly rated. Volume is what keeps an artist out there to receive the accolades you think she deserves. She's smarter with all those books and still has the "show" in show business. Again I say she is underexposed rather than underrated. Actually she teached Beyoncé how to perform, before 2006 and B'Day era, Beyoncé performances were very humdrum... Also that funky jazzy style that defines Amerie's music was stoled by Bey since Harrison was the producer of both of them back in the day... (He's the writer of Crazy In Love) and he was working with Amerie way before Beyoncé did it, so what would have happened if he would have given that song to Amerie first and not Beyoncé?. The only difference between them is that Amerie is a true writer of her own songs, and Beyoncé don't... That's why Ameriie is underrated. It's such a shame.

The story has been told multiple times by Amerie and many artists who were around at the time. Amerie who is from the DMV and Rich had been working together song about 2000, Amerie’s solo record came out in 02, Beyonce at the time wanted to go solo so she was looking for songs and productions for the album known as DIL. Beyoncé’s DAD, was head of Sony’s urban department at the time and he was basically handling everyone including DC3, Beyonce, Kelly, Solange, JLO, Amerie etc… Amerie had been experimenting for her next solo effort around 02-03 and she started incorporating gogo sound to her music. Daddy Knowles enjoyed it and asked Rich to basically copy the sound and make a tune or multiple for Beyonce, one stuck out and it was CIL! Beyoncé’s first song out was “work it out” and it TANKED bad, so her dad who is extremely business savvy, decided to go ahead with CIL! It became a smash and later everyone including JLO wanted a piece of Amerie and Rich’s sound hence why you have Get Right. Amerie who was an artist under Matthew Knowles supervision had her album pushed back hence why it only came around 04/05 because budget wise everything went to Beyoncé’s record and promo. Now I love Beyoncé, she is hard working and excellent at her craft but but she definitely did some shady ish on her way to the top.

First, Beyonce, didn't steal anything from anyone. Just goes to show your complete ignorance, on the subject. Both Crazy In Love, which came out in 2003, and One Thing, which came out in 2005. Were both co-written and produced by Rich Harrison. Why doesn't he ever get any of this ridiculous smoke. Maybe, we're more comfortable pitting women against women!
Amerie was on fire in that era.. She definitely a known & respected artist.

I still STAN. Yaas girl. See, Amerie has the ability to have fun, be sexy and talented and not present an attitude like, "I'm better than you". She still seems humble even today. Unlike the other one who stole her song, sound and all her moves. I don't have anything against her personally but she has yet to give me an authentic feel as Amerie does. Anyway, keep rockin, y'all.

L. Hill actually he created this sound with amerie before even writing crazy in love. Amerie has stated that other ppl were jacking her sound and it's true because if you go back to her big hits and then some of the ones after it they all sound similar. Her issue never was with other artist though because in the industry you all pull from each other according to her. It was more so her labels that sucked ass. She had to put 1 thing out by herself and they only backed it once it became popular in the states. Funny thing is jlo did actually try to jack this song from her but it got to popular with her vocals on it so jlo lost this one lol
@blakkone40007 жыл бұрын
Phil J. I'm only in question as to exactly what sound it is that they created. Go-go isn't new so it can't be that. Artists tend to embellish what they 'created' far too much at times. It's better just to cite whatever references you've used and leave it at that unless you've done something very significant. For example, some of Amerie's earliest works actually remind me of things that Mary J. Blige had already done; even vocally. To be honest, I never heard the full debut. Perhaps I'll stream it but in the industry a sound can very rarely belong to a single person because many have access to the same writers and producers.
@philj.68877 жыл бұрын
L. Hill it was bringing gogo to mainstream and with more percussions in the forefront the type of sound you hear with one thing for about 3-4 years her and rich were developing a sound that's was specifically more so her. like a dark child and brandy or timbaland and Aaliyah type thing. Yes these sounds were already around but they had their own little distinctive spin to it. I get the Mary j comparisons and all. I just watched a video before watching this performance that sites all the songs that sound similar to her and the artist rich went to after workin with her just search for it, its very recent
