most other non-Japanese Asian tend to adopt to American culture pretty well, and quickly. but, Japanese immigrants tend to keep their cultures more so. Perhaps, that is because, most of Japanese immigrants, US is just temporary place to live and intend to go back to Japan at sometime in the future. while other Asian immigrants, America is new home country, no plan nor desire to go back to their native countries.
I would thought by now 2024, culture in Japan would be about same as it is in US. just like Younger Asian in Orange County CA their culture idea, opinion are very similar to other non Asian American. for me, Catholic up bringing made me behave more like American and think like American. American society , specially upper class society rule of conducts are very similar to Catholic convent, monastery. if you behave and talk like you are in monastery , I found I am well accepted in most American society.
