Fun anecdote. Cornelis learned Swedish through reading Fantomen. He came to Sweden from Holland as a teenager (I think). He’s done some nice versions of Bellman’s songs as well.
@alfaDude1563 жыл бұрын
He became a master of the swedish language and most of his songs are full of puns and word twisting that's second to none. During the 1900s there were three people writing songs with clever usage of the language far above the rest. This dusch guy was one of them.

Should check out Dia Psalma! One of Sweden's 4 big punk bands. They formed early 90's, with members out of Strebers (another classic, very popular swedish folk punk band) shortly after Strebers' drummer suddenly died in a car accident. With Dia Psalma's debute album, "Gryningstid" they blew up instantly. People loved their folk rock with a punk edge. they only made 2 albums and a third which was a compilation album, ironically titled "Sellout" (with album art that is a parody of Kiss' Unmasked) before they felt burned out and disappeared in '97. 2006 they returned again and has releas two more albums since then. KSMB is one of the other 4 big swedish punk bands. Love them too.

Technically the word "Kolonien" can often be translated into "colony" but the Swedish word is wider. For example you can have a "Koloni-lott" (lott in this case means "patch", and it is a patch of land where you are allowed to grow things in.. They are usually used by people who live in apartments and because of this doesn't have access to a yard where they can grow flowers or vegetables or whatever).. And in regards to the song I'd say the best translation would be "Summer camp".

Hi Here’s a little input about this artist and some ideas if you’d like to listen to more of his works. In your other video on his music you mentioned that he’s classified as a political artist and that you noticed that “Somliga går med trasiga skor” seemed to have Spanish influence. So his songs usually have at least one of three elements. 1 It’s a joke song. 2 It’s a naturalistic and social realistic description of some seedy element of society, often criminality abuse and prostitution. 3 It’s a political song. “Brev från kolonien” is a joke song with some naturalist elements such as describing very decrepit living conditions and surrounding criminality. “Somliga går med trasiga skor” is a political song about economic injustice. God doesn’t care about people walking in broken shoes until they die and the devil laughs about it. As for the Spanish influence it’s probably more Latin American. One of his main influences is Victor Jara and he has translated some of his songs as well as written songs about him. He was a very prolific artist so there are a ton of songs of his which can be considered Swedish classics. Here are some suggestions which I’ll sort by type. As you’re a comedian I’ll start with the funny ones. Recommended joke songs: Ångbåtsblues (about a party cruise, contains some seedy elements.) Jultomten är faktiskt död (About a christmas party, contains more seedy elements.) Hönan Agda (Mostly a joke, but a somewhat dark one.) Recommended naturalist or social realist songs: Balladen om Fredrik Åkare och den söta fröken Cecilia Lind (About an extremely age inappropriate flirtation, after an Eglish folk song.) Fiffiga Nanette (About prostitution) Any other of his many songs about Fredrik Åkare or polaren Pär Suggested political songs: Blues för Victor Jara (About Victor Jara) Balladen om flykten (About refugees) Suggested songs because they’re evoking the Vietnam war: Telegram för en bombad by Telegram för en tennsoldat A song that very clearly combines politics with social realism and comedy: Polaren Pär på socialen Hopefully you’ll have time to give some of them a listen even if you might not want to make your channel all about this artist. As for some other suggestions I really recommend that you react to Michael Wiehe. His song Flickan och Kråkan is a good place to start as others have suggested. Sweden's second national poet Evert Taube, Balladen om Briggen Blue Bird av Hull, Sjösala Vals, Så länge Skutan kan gå.

Can you send more money? That would be a good deed I've gambled away every penny at dice. I promise there's fun here although a bit hard to sleep the guy in the bed above me, no he doesn't awake when he needs to I've lost two front teeth because I was doing handstands when we played charades, so now when mom sees me she'll go nuts. Out in the forest there are germs but my buddy, he has pills that he bought from a shady guy, and if you eat them you turn into a funny guy The warden has gone away he will never be what he used to because the police apprehended him last week when we played forest fire. Out in the forest there are deers, in the barrack there are critters and my best friend Tage has a tiny pocket knife in his stomach. They'll do surgery on him, and now I've told you all I know a kiss and a hug and a hearty thanks, but now we're leaving to ignite the neighboring barracks!
