There is actually a saying that goes "Steal like an artist" and I think Håkan does this the best. He takes inspiration from something, puts his own heart in to it and makes it his own. So don't worry, this is something that alot of artists do.

If people really educate themselves about music they will find out that borrowing lyrics and tunes are a huge part of the music industry and song writing. Håkan is far from the only one who does it. Everyone does it all the time.

Few artists do it to the same extent though. Stealing a line here and there over a career is one thing, but looking through his library there's really a repeating pattern of him borrowing lyrics from better songwriters.

It's annoying that people put so much emphasis on Håkan stealing songs, It has become a thing. First people complained about his voice, grew tired of that and now everyone who said that is now saying 'he's stealing all his lyrics"...it's true that he "steals" some stuff, but that's common in music...Dylan does it all the time, Plura, Lundell, rock musicians steal from classic music - Cornelis Vreeswijk and Fred Åkerström "stole" from the old delta-blues guys...and they, in turn, stole from each other so often that no one remembered where it came from in the first place...and a lot if was of course gospel-spirituals. It does not take anything away from the experience of the music, it's the other way around for me, just like literature I like to draw lines between them and it enhances the experience. With that said, I really like this channel. I was thinking about writing my own list here, but Im lazy and thought "you will get there eventually" , as Im sure you will...but o.k... here's a few: Anita Lindblom - Sånt är livet (swedish version of an american song) Anna-Lena Löfgren - Regniga natt (also a swedish version of an american song) Björn Skifs - Håll mitt hjärta (also a swedish version of another song...as you see, it's silly to even continue to mention it at this point...but a lot of these songs are better in the swedish version, and therefore I don't mind at all) Broder Daniel - Shoreline (if you do swedish classics even if it's in english) Dag Vag - Du får aldrig nog. Docent död - Solglasögon. Ebba Grön - 800 grader (staten och kapitalet was a cover, as you probably knew) Imperiet - Var e vargen. Jakob Hellman - Vara vänner (the video is very funny and strange). Karl Gerhard - Den ökända hästen från troja (this might not count as a hit...as it's early 40s and from a revue, but Karl Gerhard is funny, and one of my favorites lyrically, so nevermind that 🙂) Kikki Danielsson - Bra vibrationer. Lars Winnerbäck - Granit och morän (although you probably heard it already as it was quite a recent hit) Lill Lindfors - En så'n karl. (There's also a cover by Anne-Lie Rydé, perhaps it became a bigger hit, I don't know, also a version of an american song). Monica Zetterlund - Gröna små äpplen. Niklas Strömstedt - Sista morgonen. Olle Adolphsson - Trubbel (although I don't like his voice that much it's really one of the greatest songs written in the swedish language...that list is long, but still - Håkan Hellström has covered it if you prefer. Or the great Freddie Wadling). Peter Lemarc - Sången dom spelar när filmen är slut (much better than "Tess") Ratata - Jackie. Rikard Wolff - Pojken på månen. Säkert! - Snooza (perhaps too recent to be called a classic, very nice song though, and popular). I could mention a lot more, but I would then venture into the territory "swedish favourites" instead of actual classics, which would be cheating. Than you, and keep up the good work!

You should react to one of Broder Daniels songs, they were a really big part of the indie-culture that got pretty big in the late 90s early 2000s. Song suggestions would be "Underground", "Wirlwind", "I'll be gone" or "Shoreline". The first three were part of their breakthrough when they were part of the soundtrack in the movie "Fucking Åmål" and Shoreline is their biggest hit. Cheers!

Böja verb otrolligt mkt lättare än i Engelskan.

You should really see the movie that explain Håkan a lot like a artist I feel and you got his vibe and "thing". Magnus uggla snatch some melodis and Håkan take some bars but they make it special not your ordinary guy stealing everything. They dont really have it like a secret either they love to revive old things especially Magnus. Both of them with Melissa Horn is my favorite swedish artists so please listen to Melissa Horn small artist but everyone in Sweden have heard at least one song from her, the most popular song is "Jag saknar dig mindre och mindre" btw 😄

Now, on the lyrics thing... I would say that Håkan is very inspired, but it's often quite basic lyrics that he is inspired by. Like, pretty universal subjects. And they sound pretty different in his personal swedish tone, honestly. He has this part in his song "Uppsnärjd i det blå", where he talks about looking at yourself in the mirror and wanting to change everything you see. Now, obviously Bruce Springsteen did the same thing in "Dancing in the dark". Is it theft? I don't think so tbh. It is simply too basic of a description of a restless person, maybe a teenager, stuck with themselves. It's on the verge of this whole folklore thing, or a sort of modern traditionals, why not just call it simply a popcultural reference. I mean, otherwise you can't really sing "I love you" in a song anymore, without stealing from a million other artists. Question is does the end product have a personal sound? YES Do these songs sound lifted from somebody else's album? NOPE Does lyrics in a pop song truly matter at all? NO WAY Enjoying your review here btw :))
