For the credit, I don't look for the cheapest items I can buy because it feels like I'm just using the $50 for the sake of it. I've already used my $50 for July - Dec. I look for items that I genuinely want but just look for sales. I bought Saks branded Penny Loafers that are made in Italy. Marked down from $400 to $150 and a Theory sheerling jacket that was priced down from $600 to $200. Don't buy overpriced socks and underwear, buy quality items that you'll be proud to own and wear.

I usually get something that's a little bit more than $50 to maximize the benefit (typically something for the kitchen or the house otherwise). But it is kind of a pain looking. Amex nakes you use useless credits, which'll otherwise neve use. Thats why cancelled all amex coupon books, whe i cant cash the credits.
