AMG GLS 63 vs Escalade V

I know you guys are sandbagging in the C8, because the C8 runs a quicker quarter mile than the SL63 in every magazine test. The C8 outlaunched the SL63 and then it was like the C8 hit the brakes to let the SL catch up. As someone who does a lot of drag racing, the power difference would have to be very great for the AMG to catch up that quickly. I'm not buying it. You can't trust a Mercedes channel to be unbiased. And also, the Escalade V shouldn't have beat the C7. You should probably find someone who can launch and shift quickly to drive a car like that. It's not a car for amateurs.

Exactly! I have a 2023 C8 z51 and I could have done much better. The driver wasn't even using the launch control on the C8. We don't even know if he had it in sport or track mode. The Mercedes was 800 lbs heavier, that's a huge weight difference. There is no way the C8 loses, at least not by that much.

The elevation of the runway location is 3,390 feet above sea level. This creates challenges for naturally aspirated vehicles like the V8 in the C8 Corvette. The AMG SL63 is twin turbocharged, hence why it gained so much more acceleration once both vehicles were on their way. Additionally, the C8 makes a peak torque of 470lb-ft at 5150rpm. Turbocharged motors are not very affected by high altitude. Altitude affects a naturally aspirated motor by 3% per 1000 feet. This means that the C8 might have only been making as little as 420lb-ft of torque and less than 445hp. The AMG SL63 delivers a flat torque of 590lb-ft from 2500 to 5000rpm. We want viewers to know that we do not have any bias in our reviews. We invite anyone to challenge the results in our productions by bringing their own vehicles to challenge the same cars on our runway.

enjoyable videos guys. im a Mercedes guy and obviously an AMG guy as well. however, i do believe, you need guys who are on it. real guys who drag cars a) for a living, b) guys who are experienced drag racers.the reaction times are extremely poor.in the tow drag, the reaction time was just super poor. also in the C63 V6, C43 V6 AND C343 I4 VERSES VIDEO, PULLING AWAY THAT SLOWLY, meant that the new C43 would creamed them with bigger gaps. i've actually seen it. two guys i know have these cars, including the the V8 Bi-Turbo...shows up and do the cars no justice at all. make no mistake, i love the videos, presenters are fun. and having AMG's win iis great. but again, lets get some real racers and find out the true, real world results more often. from South Africa. I'm surprised the SL63 out pulled the C8 buy that much... that being said I bought a brand new 2018 SL63 back in November 2017... once I got it to the track in the summer, running 5 practice 1/4's my best time was 11.47 at 126 mph... so yeah they are an absolute rocket especially on the open Highway.... the new SL63 is heavier and has a slower trap speed but has been clocked at 0 to 60 in 3 seconds flat.

They are not Launching the Escalade properly. If you don't hold the break and put the gas to the floor and wait for the "burble", you are not in the "launch mode". That makes a HUGE difference!

The GLS63 does not have race start. The AMG SL63 did, but the C8 gets the power through 2 wheels slightly quicker than the AMG SL63 did to 4. The midengine layout of the C8 is a great advantage when launching.

The C8 Corvette has excellent launch capabilities. In other independent tests, you will see that it's slightly quicker than the AMG SL63 to 100kmh but slower in the quarter mile. We noticed the same thing when we tested it against the lighter Jaguar F-Type 575. Once the AMG SL63 gets into second gear, it rockets away.

I agree with the channel on this one. GM still has a stigma for some people who remember their past, but their future is looking good. They have come a very long way in a short time. The Cadillacs and Corvettes are amazing vehicles. There's a reason the Escalade and Corvette dominate their segments when it comes to sales. The reviews on both are glowing as well. Both have average transaction prices over $100,000 and sell tens of thousands per year
