Tom Brier is a gifted, and humble, pianist. I just watched Cory Hall's performance of this rag, and it's interesting to hear the different interpretations. Cory is also an excellent sight reader. Tom hit the tempo spot on, and - even during the improvisation towards the end, maybe because of the overlapped score sheet - played it beautifully. Thanks Keeper1st.

Just love the expression of pure joy on Tom's face as he plays this beautiful piece for the first time.

@mkscmaster Indeed, Tom is the most humble person you'll ever meet. He feels uncomfortable self-promoting (he usually only mentions his CDs for sale when someone else mentions them first), and only made his "Blue Sahara" CD of all-Brier compositions after repeated requests from others to do so.

@mkscmaster BachScholar may wish to make a video to prove. I don't mind a good cutting contest or piano duel but being arrogant or a braggart is another thing. Tom's rags are fanastic as is his site reading. I went on a KZbin binge for about an hour one night listening to the various Brier vids (thx Keeper1st!). I noticed BachScholar does not allow comments on his videos; he unwilling to take feedback or criticism? Ironically the comment I wanted to post most was a Confrey vid compliment!
@HalValla017 жыл бұрын
Cory has said the reason he doesn't allow comments on his older videos is not because he won't take critisism or is afraid of other bragging. It's simply because there's a chance of many people asking questions and stuff, and Cory has no time to answer them

He used to allow comments, and took the time to answer them. But a few flies in the ointment were wasting his valuable time. The sensible thing, if that happens too much, is to turn off comments.

@AAErikCO Agreed. My main point in my comment was actually the second part, I was just being a little less straight forward about it I guess.

Hey, at least he's not some random guy with no videos saying he could do better. He has a lot of videos and shows he has the talent. You should show us some of your sightreading, perhaps by taking the yoshi's island sheet keeper1st supplies in his video of tom's sightread of the song (in the comments) and making a video of your first attempt of it. Also, do you see Tom going around saying he can do better than other pianists? He does it to enjoy it, not to be better than others. You should too.

Discordo , não gostei muito da sua forma de executar . Neste caso o Tom executou melhor do que o senhor . com todo respeito é claro , o senhor é um músico fabuloso , mas nesta obra eu prefiro a versão do Tom.
