Fille de joie means prostitute, but the title is fils (son) de joie; because ppl use fils de pute(which also means prostitute, but could be translated te “bitch” to insult anyone (as well as in English, “son of a bitch”). So this is more a song about respect; so the point of the song is that we constantly insult mothers, when we would be nothing w/o them.

I think it is seen as a hero's journey because of the sacrifice sex work comes with, it's not just "hooking up". Most conventional SW's hate having to do that for work, it hurts, they bleed after a few hrs, they get bruised, bitten, scratched, and manhandled. I work with re-entry population (fresh out of rehab, prison, homelessness, etc.) and the ladies I have met have the most heartbreaking stories. I often find myself holding back tears when it hits me that they are just girls like me, their kids see them with the love I see my mom with, and they were once babies too. All I can do is pray for the Lord to heal them and help them see that they don't have to live with the shame. And that if I changed, they can too! The stories that made me give my life to Christ are when he showed compassion towards women. The first when the adulterous woman was about to be stoned, and Jesus says that whoever is free of sin should throw the first stone. The second one is the woman with the bleeding, who dragged herself in between the people to touch the border of his garment, she is the only woman that ever gets called "daughter" by Jesus. And third, and the one that is very linked to my testimony, is when the sinful woman washes his feet and the people in the room are horrified that Jesus allows such a person to approach him. Then Jesus says that whoever he forgives more, loves him more. Jesus himself comes from a prostitute (Rahab, a cananite prostitute, married Salmon, they had Boaz, who had Obed, who had Jesse, who had King David) 🤷‍♀️

It's very close in pronunciation to Filles de Joie which translated means Girls of joy or pleasure ( a term used to describe prostitutes). Love watching your reactions.
