I went from a C64 to building a 8088 based IBM clone. Missed out on all the greatness in between. I got an Amiga 3000 a few years ago for 100 bucks I’ve slowly been trying to bring back to life.

For sure! I still can't believe this 3000 just fell into my lap all those years ago when I didn't know an Amiga from a hole in the ground. Must have been fate!

The A3000 was quite expensive. All amiga owners kinda wanted one.

You can use your existing Amiga physical rom(s) to create a Rom file for UAE. Just boot your real Amiga(s) from a WB disk with CLI and a copy of 'transrom' in the c: directory. Then you can use transrom to copy your Rom to that floppy. Load that floppy in UAE (Booted from AROS) and copy it down to a soft harddisk on your PC. There are lots of tutorials on the many ways you can do this.

Thanks! I totally forgot to mention that if one is looking for an emulator they can just install and start using, that's the idea behind the Amiga Forever product. More than just a collection of ROMs, it's also a simplified front-end around UAE that's pre-configured with games and demos.

@@retrobitstv I like that you pointed the emulator at either the SD Card's fs or moved the data back and forth. I think that would be a great bit of your video to explain how you did that for people :)

Nice video. You set it up in an odd way which intrigued me. That's okay..it works. It's interesting how 'set in our ways' we get after 30+ years. I love my 3000UX and 3000D's to bits. Great video. P.S Nice with the Superfrog ..but still you need to more practise. *Facepalm* :)

I know this is an old video, but the first part of this video has exactly what I was looking for, a shot of the bottom of the A3000. Did A3000's not come with any feet? I'm trying to figure out what kind of feet came with them, as mine had none, but I did see a bit of adhesive residue so I think it had something... but I have no idea what. Was it rubber? Cork? Felt? Nothing?

Huh, never knew you had an Amiga. But given the timing (1996) I can sort of see why. The "video editing projects" were fansubs right? (Genlock, LD, S-VHS... checks out...) Was that copy of DYRL you gave me one of yours? It's been a while since I've watched the tape, and the only VCR I have at this point is integrated into a TV that was "thoughtfully" left behind by the previous owners of the house when they sold it to us (but actually I thought it was pretty awesome that we got a CRT TV out of the deal - even if it's just a little one. And I think someone stuck a peanut butter and jelly sandwich into the VCR at some point, so I kind of need to sort that out before I can feed it any tapes)

Sonic it is not. I feel like it's impressively coded, great use of color on OCS machines, responsive and fast. But I never found it fun to play. Any amount of speed just results in you getting hurt or killed. I guess that's down to level design. Or maybe I'm just bad at the game!

@@retrobitstv I thought it was ok, I was never particularly good at the demo I played but then I was not a big platform fan anyway. That said, I think you hit the nail on the head in your first sentence. It had the technical strong points of a good platformer - the speed, responsiveness of control, smooth scrolling and pretty graphics - but without much soul or great level design. Team 17, the publishers/developers (I think it WAS an in-house developed game), always made pretty games but the gameplay was often a little bit lacking - not bad, but not quite hitting the mark. I felt much the same about their Alien Breed series.
